Levi's Prayer

By horatiuromantic on January 21, 2024 10:00 pm

This week we say hi again to Levi on drums, and we also say hi to the electric piano and Hydrasynth. The bass is still my previous patch on the ua spark moog. In the same vein as the first tracks but much less maximalist. I dunno about the mix/master because my ears are tired having done the whole thing sunday. I started with the piano intro, then invented a progression and just looped it. I didn't have inspiration for lyrics or melody or a B part or fancy song structure, so I went for a chill vibe, except of course I had to go a bit intense on the solos.

I hope you'll enjoy!

Haha love how the glide can't keep up with those runs on the synth lead!  Very chill overall though, nice contrast to the first too.

nice jazzy noodlings and wild glitches on this one!  i find this to be pretty nicely structured even for what was apparently more of an improvisation.  this also reminded me of the time i almost impulse-bought a hydrasynth, I relented because i'm not a quardrillionaire (jk it's actually pretty decently priced), glad to hear it being put to good use

Love the solos and the synths. Also the bass is very cool and transmits a chill vibe together with the drums. Nice!!

blessed be the chill vibes
amen

lovely

Great jam. Gave me hall&oates chill vibes. Nice compositions!

Nice floatiy vibes. I like the modulated delay on the lead (if that what it is.) also very funny that you have dedicated a song to levi haha. Hope his prayer is answeredโ€ฆ

Oh wow. This sound is like jazzy wellness for my ears. I very much adore your finger technique.

Super sick.

Really dig the laid back, loungy vibe. Especially the e-piano, whether it's analog or a synth, it has such a great tone!

Looove the electric piano intro. After drums, etc. come in, I really like how the piano sits in the background and lets the bass and synth shine.

Mad respect for the jazz skills. The endless delays around 2:30 sound neat. Constructive criticism: on my airpods the synth bass gets a little farty sounding. Keep it up!

wonderful, warm tones on the piano and gentle soothing energy overall smile

Thanks everybody for listening and leaving such lovely comments! When the AI takes over Levi will remember this.

So moody... instafeels
Emily's sticker is definitely on point XD

Haha you're having fun with that synth! I love the excitement in it. The drums playing is simple and appropriate - with the right sound and mix. Great jam my friend!

this is so beautiful

are you programming Levi or is Levi just doing his own thing?  Does Levi happen first or after?  LEVI IS NOT A REAL HUMAN, RIGHT?

*sweating*

yeaaa thx! it was super fun. I also went super crazy on some takes but in the end the chill ones with more soft parts and more dynamics are best.

Thank you! Levi is not human. Something ... otherworldly.

I have two workflows with Levi:  one is to set him up in the live looping stuff kinda like in Ableton, and for each pad Logic generates the drums based on if I want it to be "complex" or "simple", "loud" or "soft", use hats or cymbals, more or less fills and swing etc. Then he just plays and adds fills. The other workflow is to set up his track with sections with specific settings, so I might have softer and use hats for the first section, and use cymbals in the chorus. He generates the drums, then I record the other tracks on top. I can also layer an extra cymbal here and there or whatever but usually he is fine as he is.

By the way Levi is also in Garage Band for those of you who have apple products. You can find him under Drummers > Songwriters.
