45 minutes to midnight

GO baby GO!!!

GOT A LITTLE TOO CREATIVE WITH 10M REMAINING AND IT'S BOUNCING NOW WITH 2 MINUTES ON THE CLOCK SUBMIT WITHOUT CHECKING GOGOGOGO!!!! IT'S STALLING AT 76%!!!!! GO BABY GO!!!!!!! LESS THAN ONE MINUTE 83% 85% COME ON FASTER!!!! 91%. HOLY CRAAAAAAP GET READY TO SLAM SUBMIT AS SOON AS THE FILE SHOWS UP 96%!!!!

Now that's it's barely made it in (phew!), let me re-edit this description and give some backstory: It started 45 minutes before the deadline. No notes or any scribbles throughout the week to reference, although I did hear a V6 chord during the week I wanted to use and did.

Bit of a wash this week with time not working out, but that's the way it goes sometimes. I could have submitted without a bridge with a safety buffer but decided to hammer one out and almost didn't make it. It's weeklybeats so of course have to go for it!

I like the chords progression. Fun track.

Nice quickly done track! Nothing like a 45mins deadline to get shit DONE!

Frogcity living in the edge! I agree with djippy on the chord progression, it is cool, and I like how the melody ties it all together.

Seems like having a deadline works wonders for you because this bossa nova sounds pretty well thought through. Funnily, a few elements of the melody you wrote reminded me of my own track from this week smile

I gotta do a bossa nova, too!

VERY solid for 45 minutes

Did you play in those drum fills? They all sound very solid. Need to get better at that. In my head the solution is to just get a drum kit but maybe I should try harder.

Love the abrupt ending

Thanks, I liked the quirky chord progression with some random chords I would never use as a bit of a challenge to make the melody make it work, and the melody made it work which surprised me a bit, so I enjoyed that aspect. Other than that it didn't really push me much and was more of an exercise in doing things I already know how to do in scramble cutting corners mode.

To be honest I had no idea what Bossa Nova was until you mentioned it. I guess I got lucky it is actually a 3/4 beat. Or maybe Bossa Nova loops auto-populated the drum loop menu when I selected 3/4, probably that was it. Spent roughly 30 seconds on the drums after I had the chords down, just used the first ones I picked without comparing to others and slapped them across the chord progression sections.

Normally I do like to custom fit the drums and customize the fills to match the melody, but in this case it was the opposite, and it was more or less a couple live recordings against the existing drums as is + post-editing on the melody. I don't like using the metronome and use stock drum loops instead which maybe is one creative knob to play with as it really affects the result which drum loop I'm using as a metronome.

I didn't pick up on that but listening again I see what you mean yes! Your song is definitely more complex in structure and growth, and this one is just a simple structure.

Ah yes, it's just an exact copy of the 2nd section before and there is no ending lol. Time pressure!!

You made it!! I can't decide if it would be fun or stressful to churn something out in 45 minutes, but now I want a week where everyone has to do this haha. The melody is really cool, so much movement that it really stands out when it slows down or goes away completely. The bossa feel is super fun too!

nice one, just under the wire!

The main melody w/the chromatics is tasty. Way to get one in! Hope you keep going even though you met your 8 wk goal.

it's always interesting to see what happens with intense time constraints
