Cool, I'll dig into the archives this weekend!

btw, I just recorded the guitar to mine, the drums earlier in the week and holy shit it is sounding nasty. just need to do vocals then mix and master the fucker.

this is gonna be awesome. Are we to tag our songs in a certain way so the themed ones can be sorted? I've just tagged mine 'black metal', and also 'black' and 'metal' just in case, haha

If you guys are stuck for a melody I've got plenty lying around that I'm willing to share!

Yeah, I'm glad I managed to smash out my track for this week in a night, since all I've wanted to do these last few nights has been to sit in front of a fan and drink beer while watching tv shows on my overheating laptop.

Nice selection!

I've been on a real metal kick lately. High on Fire, Morbid Angel, Flaw, Torche, Isis and Cult of Luna have been featuring in my listening.

eski-beat..? Another one of those nano-genres?

Yup, same here in Melbourne (not quite 46 but close). I managed to channel it into black metal though; getting sweaty while screaming and playing tremolo-picked guitar was kinda cathartic, actually.

I moved from Perth 6 years ago to get away from this shit!

Can't wait to hear what everyone makes for this!

Yeah, I think mine is done too! I went for deliberately lo-fi/traditional style—I recorded guitars and bass through a little 15w amp and screeched out the vocals in only a couple of takes. I don't even know why black metal vocalists bother with lyrics because it's actually more fun to just scream nonsense..

It's so fucking hot in Melbourne this week; hardly appropriate for black metal but maybe I can squeeze some bleakness out of the fact that I can barely think straight in the heat.. and articles like this:

Lyric ideas right there!

oh yeah, youtube links probably better!

(not Ordo Ad Chao but a pretty good example)

I'd suggest Mayhem; their latest album Ordo Ad Chao is pretty amazing:

Also Ulver's two black metal albums are quite nice:

I'm not a hardcore fan of black metal but those are a few of my favourites.

I don't want to destroy my uke, so Black Metal is going to be a bit harsh, but I can probably make it work.

At a stretch you could probably submit some Burzum-style dark synth ambience.

Also I might record some generic inward screams and shrieks tonight or tomorrow, if anyone is interested in using them this week..

only vocal samples are used to create a track.

oh this is good too! I've been meaning to do this for a while actually.

I'm gonna be so busy this week with other things but will try to nail it in one night.. good thing black metal is gritty and unpolished by nature!

One person write a melody, everybody can include this same melody in any way they want to in their song. This was originally talked about here

I like this idea!
