Weeklybeats and all these web challenges are incredibly insightful.

Speedcomps (A 30 minute challenge where samples are released and then you get 30 minutes timelimit (within your own time) has also been a good one... you never know where you end up sometimes...

http://milkcrate.com.au/ by Little-scale's worth checking out too, Write music within the rules...

... EDIT!** I mean, Weeklybeats 'is a a lot' for one week sure.. .. when you find new ways to do it, as proven in these 30 minutes/24hour challenges.

Man, it sounds like you just need to be able to work on the go. In a train? Do 15 mins. Taxi? Bust out your WB. Accumulate all that time incrementally rather than in one sitting the night before deadline.

When you loose your track Moday at 12am it makes no different when you work :-P   I'd actually been working on a track I started in Japan October last year.  Got into a pickle as I was making final changes and accidentally copied the original 15 second sketch over the top of what I was working on.  Replace file?  Yes... I MEANT NO.... SHIT SHIT SHIT..!! (etc.)  You know the drill when you are tired...

Yo cTrix, I wonder if you have shadow copies enabled .. your track may still be recoverable.
Otherwise fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff sad

Thank you Philharmonic!!
XD

I didn't allow my self enough time to render and click save with 50 seconds to go... :\

[10:33 AM] aday: Protip, don't give your self 2 minutes time window to hit render and upload at the same time
[10:33 AM] JerwuQu: You did that?
[10:34 AM] aday: It was wrong, and I'm sorry.

more shader poke with ShaderLoader.dll

Protip: Open your project file on your laptop/desktop ALL THE TIME, Leave it open... ALL..THE..TIME...even when not directly working on it.

Helps when you end up playing your song file throughout the week whist at work or something in the background etc..
keep chipping away
(pls add your protip)

Always seem strapped for time, exhausted at the end of each working day (Physically and Mentally, there's no quality coming out of a exhausted me)

Usually I'm a complete write off on Monday morning (for when I do 'the lets get up really early to make something', or go straight though till morning to finish something)
Tonight's mode looks like it will be "ok, I've got all night till I fall asleep to make something" Which is once I get back (around 1am)

I've been really busy with work stuff or assisting with different festivals/music events/ etc.

Even right now, I would LOVE to spend some studio time indoors but I'm just about to head away from my home studio yet again cuz prior commitment.
(Come to an Illegal(?) (probably) park party if you like wink)

The only time i'm finding to work on stuff is a train trip/ a bus trip. etc. <-- these have literally been the best 10/15 minutes at a time that I can do stuff in.

When the time comes around where I actually have time on my hands (A weekend when there's nothing on!)
I hope i'm not just gonna fall asleep..

I Hope to sit down next weekend and hopefully be in a better position to work on some ideas rather than a survival mode track..

I remember earlier this year were I would start my tracks on Wednesday, and finish them Sunday night (complete with video!) --- I wanna be back there again

Though, on the plus side. I've learned not to be precious over it all, and If It's a quick jam that makes it to the week, that's all that matters smile

my usual/preferred starting point is the Matrix device in Reason since you can take a simple idea/pattern and mold it like clay.

Amazingly, I've started two tracks exactly the same way (week5 and week1), the Matrix device in Reason is amazing.
Reason in general is such a power house to get an idea flowing quickly smile
