my usual/preferred starting point is the Matrix device in Reason since you can take a simple idea/pattern and mold it like clay.

Amazingly, I've started two tracks exactly the same way (week5 and week1), the Matrix device in Reason is amazing.
Reason in general is such a power house to get an idea flowing quickly smile

*** WEEK 1 - 2016  ***
http://weeklybeats.com/#/aday/music/tri … liferation

Kinda an early start... New ideas to come smile
Welcome back everybody

I'm making this post as a reference point for future us/me to look on and be reminded of the path of the weekly-beats way of life - and avoiding pitfalls like momentum dives and lack of inspiration.

(Edit Highly Subject to Editing)

* Don't Delete Anything (Save your stems!! Put them somewhere organised)
* Save Often (Computers suck, and will destroy your world with BSOD's etc)
* Stop reading forums, unplug your Ethernet cable if you have too!!
* Get sleep(or naps?) (Unproven if this is actually helping at this point)

Workflow Ritual?
* Turn your phone off?

After 2012 and 2014 I found a lot of learning to cope with this was mostly psychological, not technical. (There some how related!?!? (I'm not insane?))

Protip: Open your project file on your laptop/desktop ALL THE TIME, Leave it open... ALL..THE..TIME...when when not directly working on it.

IN!! Again!
With controlled/realistic enthusiasm to really attempt to fill in EVERY week..!

I would definitely happily throw money at @Trash80's AWS invoice too. How do we even?

2012/2014 weeklybeats was real motivation for me and learned a lot, 2015 was way too quite and unproductive.

45 entries this year but anyway, it was fun ... still writing, but at my own pace.. smile

Let's reboot this thread,
How did you all go? Did you accomplish your goals that you set out for in 2014?

Let's see here...
I did manage to build some cool hardware and make some cool instrument/chip mods this year which recording music did prompt me to do ...
It definitely assisted and solidified my approach to improvisational creativity.

Though, I missed a week in week 45, then stopped ...
I'm hoping to come up with something for the final week of 2014...

How about you?

There are a few of tracks of mine that I wish I could flag as 'don't listen, EVER! (rough week) or something'
Where as some I would flag as would love request for comment...

Perhaps we could all write our own tracks here, and request for comment on the ones were most interested in hearing feedback about??

I've done quite a few throw-away tracks but I've also done tracks I'm kinda happy with .... but with zero comment...
Perhaps theres others with a similar mindset.
