sawfay.bandcamp.com I never got to show off the lovely artwork my mate Adam McCausland has been doing for each song. Check it out. It's very nice.

hey, just for statistical purposes I thought I would add that I have written and uploaded 51 pieces of music this year, to my sawfay.bandcamp.com site. So I've been writing music each week, all year. I did miss the Sunday deadline a lot in the beginning because I decided to work Monday to Monday, but pulled it back to Sunday to Sunday around the half way point.

I'm liking Song A Month / Monthly Beats too.
Having a 12 track 'album' by the end of 2013. Focusing on tying the songs together more and so on.

I like your idea Thursdaybloom: EP a month. Cool concept. Hmmms.

I already have 4 different EPs I'll be working on in the new year, they don't have deadlines really, but everyone involved is keen to get them done asap. So I reckon it's likely to be March or April that everyone will be expecting those complete.

If I can do my own stuff as well, then that's pretty cool.

Yay! Cheers bleo!! http://weeklybeats.com/#/sawfay/music/w … -is-basted smile

Hi guys, I uploaded my track last night and it appeared to complete around 11:50pm, but it wasn't there after midnight. It was called "Week 44 - Song 44 - Basically Your Bass Is Basted" any chance it's on the server somewhere? I uploaded it to my site as well, www.songaweekforayear.com but it'd be nice if I could keep my weekly beats run going. Any help with this guys?

Yay. Finally made it back to Weekly beats with Week 24.

Most chuffed about that. And quite pleased with this week's tune.

All my others are still on my website: www.songaweekforayear.com

Hi there! smile

hey, last year I wrote a song everyday! www.songadayforayear.com

I also play bass in a prog rock band called Hexxed. I joined Hexxed in 2009, when they were recording their album Synapse Collision, up to that point the band had a pretty big profile in Ireland's Metal scene, but Synapse Collision kinda changed that a bit. It seemed like many Metal fans thought it was too experimental or not heavy enough. I joined the band as a vocalist for Synapse Collision, I also received some pretty harsh reviews for my singing on that album, again, generally along the lines of me not being METAWWWLLL enough or something. Aaaaanyway. The band did some decent gigs promoting the album around Ireland and got to play with some decent bands (Altar of Plagues and Katatonia for example).

In 2011 Hexxed wrote new material for the next release. Our original bass player parted ways, so I stepped in. I am now playing bass and occasionally piano on the new material, with plans to do some singing and backing vocals here and there. ... I like a challenge, that's for sure!!

In 2012, we're getting ready to record a new EP. The songs are shaping up and we've really benefited from playing a few smaller gigs to try the new material out. Can't wait to finish the new EP, the material is very satisfying to play and I think it's going to reach a whole new set of people.

So yea, aside from that, I have also been the singer for Fragile Human Organs, which is a studio project between me and another guy called Adam Mc Causland (the same guy doing my Song A Week For A Year artwork - see also my user icon here!)... Fragile Human Organs is close to releasing a new EP of tracks. Tis lovely stuff, mixing pretty heavy guitar work with electronic / slightly NIN-esque production. http://fragilehumanorgans.bandcamp.com

And previously I've released two solo albums as Doctor Lilt http://drlilt.bandcamp.com the albums are also on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify etc...
As Doctor Lilt I've gigged all over Ireland and parts of the mainland UK. Haven't done much under this name in the last couple of years however. Might resurrect it at some point... hmmm...

Well you did ask... hehehehe

I'm really productive, but I always came up with so much different ideas. Is like I start a project then move to another. At the end of a little period I have 4-5 decent ideas to work with, and my biggest problem is to decide which one will fit the bill.

This is something I do too.
Actually my Week 8 is a perfect example of this, because in the end, I actually just STAPLED another song idea I had mid-week, onto the end of my song. I think it worked though.

I don't like throwing anything away.

Well I'm pretty pleased with my Week 8. I have written acoustic / folk songs before. In fact, I've written many, but they always seem to lack something and I often couldn't put my finger on it. This track felt a lot more mature and like I'd really thought about the flow of it and the chord changes and structure. Actually, I'm most pleased with the lyrics, which tied everything in.

I spent Friday night writing the chords and I messed around with things for a few hours. I liked that progress... I kept changing my mind, but it was a healthy progression. So on Saturday I tackled lyrics and vocal melodies. Again, having that time to focus on the individual elements really gave the song a bit of depth.

Anyway, yep. I am going to attempt to finish WEEK 9 before Sunday. I'm thinking I'm going to slip away from acoustic folk/rock and get back to BIG PHAT BEATS and BASS, as I have been enjoying what I've been learning with this stuff recently. I'm thinking some sort of 'epic' / anthemic kinda HIP HOP thing.

YAY!!! Finally feckin' made it into the Weekly Beats playlist!! Whooo hoo. smile

WEEK 7 - SONG 7 - Bruxism
http://sawfay.bandcamp.com/track/week-7-song-7-bruxism

Hey little-scale, thanks for checking my stuff out!!

Well folks, it looks more likely that I'm going to be writing a song every week from Monday - Monday, so I'm probably going to be out of synch with Weekly Beats.. I should really try and catch up with myself, but work life is getting in the way unfortunately.

For what it's worth here's my WEEK 6 : http://sawfay.bandcamp.com/track/week-6 … volitantes

Cheers!

Hey, my bad: I realise how easy it is now to listen to people's uploaded tracks and stream by week. This is a great site! Very nicely done.
Thanks Roboctopus.

Hi Sphax! Thanks for the compliments. I have been producing music for a few years, I think making a song a day last year has really helped me hone my skills.
The artwork for the Song A Week tracks are created by a good friend of mine called Adam Mc Causland: www.a-mcc.co.uk. He's an excellent graphic designer, photographer and music producer in his own right! He has volunteered to create an original piece of artwork for my songs each week, which is a really nice way to help me keep some sort of 'theme' or conceptual link between my songs.

@Phil. Yep. Cheers. I get that now. I've a feeling I'm not going to make Week 6 by midnight Sunday either, as I have quite a lot of other crazy stuff to attend to this week and weekend. ARGH! We'll see....
