I guess that's a "no".

Yeah alright roll
@Trash80 , will there be a chance to implement this or should I forget about it?

Well now the description shows a link but without tags. Seems like they got erased? Have yo tried editing it again?

I can still see the large picture in the comments below though.
I noticed the large one is a script not a direct link, says ":large" at the end, so maybe the smaller version does not allow hotlinking or needs a tag like the big one. As I said this is dependent on your image host.

I can see your image on your music post and also the bigger image below.
Maybe it's related to wherever you're hosting the image, sometimes it ends in .jpg but it's actually something else like a script (imgur does this now, super annoying)

Wow, really? Thanks for that man, as george says, you must be my agent big_smile

use the IMG tag.

Make sure you're linking to an actual image and not a script or other URL.

I noticed people embedding videos and them being unavailable to me because the embed requires Flash (which I have disabled for months). I believe this is the same system as cm.o
Example thread: http://weeklybeats.com/#/forums/topic/5701/weeklyvids/

If I get it right, you just put the Youtube video URL code there and your code makes the embed happen. Can that code be changed to use the HTML5 code instead? That way it will work even on mobiles. Youtube fully supports HTML5 for a while now. And everyone hates Flash. Right? big_smile

Yeah I get that and I am happily fulfilling the challenge on my own, but it feels kinda weird to being part of this but not share what you have done with weeklybeats peers, hence my request for allowing me to upload so every site member can listen, but disable downloads of what I upload. I believe it's a fair request. Also the requirement of "upload before deadline" gets kinda blurred in my case, where I don't really go through the process of finalizing a track for upload because I don't need to (and in my current setup and progress, that means I am avoiding two steps of the process: recording and digitizing), and that's a cop out. I could use the extra motivation big_smile

I understand resourceful people can still get MP3s out of the site code or whatever, but that's beyond the point, I cannot and do not intend to stop that.

So if you can implement this feature without breaking the website, I'd appreciate it! I can upload with "copyright" to avoid its including on the torrent. Perhaps songs marked as  "copyright" can be excluded from the RSS feed too? Or some other tag can be added that would exclude them from the rss feed?

Sorry to drag on about this, and feel free to tell me to give it up big_smile

Hmm, I just don't want to use Weeklybeats to "release" anything out there. I am happy with the challenge and with people listening to what I upload here, but I don't want people to believe I am releasing songs every week. I've been keeping my challenge private this year because of this issue, if there's no way to make it work, even if it is because you just don't want to, I totally understand, I'll just keep on doing it as I am doing it now!

What does the RSS feed do anyway? Direct link to the mp3? If that's the case, yeah.

One more thing, does this mean the uploads are re-encoded toa standard mp3 format for streaming on the browser?

Yup I understand that, but that implies a bunch of tinkering by whoever wants to do that, instead of just clicking "download".
I mean, the same could happen with Bandcamp files, right? Or are you exposing the exact file uploaded directly?
In any case even if the download button is the only thing one can disable, that'd be nice I guess.

I thought I'd put it here instead of it getting lost into another conversation.

Is this possible to implement? I would prefer my music to not be available for download, just for listening online on weeklybeats.com

Yeah I read that now, but I had no idea the torrent was a thing. I don't come into the forums unless I have a problem I need solving.
So it's no good for what is already out there, it's in the torrents already because I probably released it with a CC license. I never uploaded stuff here with the intention of it being redistributed and I am quite upset that it was but it was my damn fault too.

In any case I'd still like my tunes to not be downloaded from here. Listenable yes, but downloadable, no.

[edit] so here goes another week where I finished something but have not uploaded it because of this. I hope this can be implemented, would really appreciate it)

Can we possibly have the option not to allow downloads of tracks?
Weeklybeats is a personal challenge for me and although I like people listening to tunes as I make them, I have no interest in making what I upload this year available for download, since part of my yearly practice is to make stuff but not release a thing.

I already have a problem with all my past Weeklybeats submissions being in the torrents even though I erased the submissions from the website.

I rather stream to listen than download it all. It'll just pile up in one of my hard drives.
Also can't bother to mess with Python scripts.
If I had a shoutcast server in my domain I'd do this myself.

That's an interesting idea, thanks bry.
I just hate having to depend on the browser, and I can't play audio on my computer anymore.

Anybody able/wanting to set up a Shoutcast streaming server with each week's songs? It'd be awesome for streaming on a media server, for example (currently my only means of listening to music at home).

I have one of those "play from Chrome" extensions but it doesn't work all the time because it's buggy.

Yeah, I could download all tracks to my hard drive, I know. But I thought I'd ask.

(Maybe even a link to download all week in a zip would be cool)
