I remember reading that the Mayan calendar didn't factor in leap year and daylight savings time, so we're technically already safe

Maybe we could compile a WB end of the year album.

Thanks for the links vinpous. I'm still messing around with sfpack to see if I can uncompress with it.

I've never extracted samples from anything before. Is that hard to do ?

I use SynthFont to apply soundfonts. I make the MIDIs in Anvil Studios. I only have access to free music software right now.

hey, I've got another question. I asked this before on another forum some time ago but never got an answer.

I have a number of midi percussion packs, but they're unpredictable. Many of the instruments I put into my MIDI grid get no playback once the soundfont percussion pack is applied to the track. Also, some instruments are not what I intend. Things like the hi-hats sound like the casaba and all of the different toms sound like the bass drum.

Is there an application that will let me check inside the file to see which instruments are there and what they will sound like ?

For what it's worth, I listened to your track.

I think the soundscape was implemented clearly and sounds great, but the piano's melody was a little loud. Maybe a little reverb could make it fit in better with the soundscape.

This happened to me once, when I named my track "General Practice 3" it linked to the earlier track "General Practice 2". However 1, 2 and 4 linked fine. I don't really understand it, but I guess it's best to just avoid using the same first word.

I'm just writing a guitar part in midi.
It's kind of wonky for me to figure out all six notes a semitone at a time, but if the chart doesn't exist I'll try to make one for myself. Thanks for the information and links - it really helps me smile

I'm looking for a chart that displays common fingerings for guitar chords in a regular notation like for piano. Does that exist?
I don't play the guitar so I don't know which notes go in which octaves

Thanks for the info - it sounds like I ought to shrink the stereo width. Can I use Audacity to do that ? What effect or option is that under ?

I have a question about a specific VST that I'm using. It's called CVPiano GVI modeled

It seems to take high notes and pan them to the right, while low notes get panned to the left. The pan option is set on center though.
I don't want the high notes panned so hard to the right. What should I do?

Thanks guys. I'll remember to keep low sounds panned to the center and to move higher sounds away from the center when they aren't audible.

So far I've mostly been keeping my stuff in mono. I know that panning is important though.
Under what circumstanes should panning be used? Any general tips would be great.
