Weeklybeats is a 52 week long music project in which artists compose and publicly release 1 song a week for the entire year.
Starting January 1st 2024 GMT each participant will have one week to upload one finished composition. Any style of music or selection of instruments are welcomed and encouraged.

I ran out of time waiting for inspiration to strike before a busy weekend, so I just threw something together in half an hour... that didn't actually turnout too bad.
Glitch samples and two distortion effects on a rudimentary X-Y controller this week...

This week marked the first of what I predicted will happen a few times; I had a pretty intense depressive flare up and lost inspiration to do anything, let alone write music.
Luckily, I'd already half worked out an idea and could just post it as was, but I'm a little disappointed that this happened so early :-/ ah well, when uni goes back, there will be more challenges to overcome and hopefully no time to get pissy and depressed... MOAR DISTRACTIONS! >.<
Also, I'm still a little annoyed I had to bail on the local beat-up (or beat-off, if you prefer) because of my new job's effect on my sleeping patterns v_v next time, beaters, next time.
tl;dr - I was doing okay, I got sad, so I posted a WIP. I was going to beat with a bunch of others, but got sleepy, so I slept.
Sorry to be the piker, but I'm going to have to pull out of today. My sleep patterns are a little messed up and I'm going to need to rest up before work tonight.

I'm working on something of an emotional progression idea at the moment, trying to capture a few different feels within the same refrain by altering texture and surrounding tone...
...in other words, I may abandon it, I may end up with a bunch of nonsensical wank, or I might end up with something worth listening to... we'll see
I had plenty of time, but found myself lacking inspiration a bit. My time might get tighter in a few weeks, when uni kicks back in and a little more work starts rolling in, not to mention the short film score I may be getting commissioned to do.
We'll see, I guess, how things go, but right now I'm just floundering a bit, looking for inspiration >.<

Okay, what are people's availabilities on the 24th, and 25th? I have a rehearsal on the 24th in the evening, and a movie screening on the morning of the 25th, but am otherwise open to suggestion.
I only came back to electronica full time recently after pushing the guitar work for a decade or so, so this is a good way for me to get back in to the swing of it, hopefully getting past the 'I've gotten all the easy inspiration out, now what?' point...
Also, I need to develop a better workflow and understanding of what my synths and effects can do, so an environment where I can muck about with something new and put it out there outside of an EP is ideal.
I'm certainly happy that I produced something worth listening to, as opposed to the relatively weak kicker from week 1, but there are a couple of issues I've come across since submitting.
I'm looking forward to doing this week's entry, but I really need to start striking out in to experimenting with new things. Recording vox and guitar is still off the table at the moment, but soon, my friends... sooooooooooon... >.<

The 22nd I might have to disappear to a rehearsal during, but it wouldn't be far away, so I can come back. The 29th is open in the evening, I'll be running a photography workshop during the day for AVCon, so even if we do it late that night, I'll be a bit strung out ;P
The 23rd works for me, I'm free all day I think... maybe a rehearsal, but I haven't gotten confirmation either way from the director yet.
Other than that, pretty well everyday we can do, with possible gaps where I'll need to disappear for a while
I'm thinking about messing around with some reversing... on the other hand, I have a mood-progression concept for another track to work on, so it could end up as that, too.
