I've been so wrapped up in the new setup, or working, that I'm only downloading week 7 now >.<

Oh don't get me wrong, I feel that I'm holding my own pretty well, I just meant that gear envy may have taken over if I'd seen all that wonderful tech before starting smile

Got my new system, set it up, and my vocal and guitar tracking is back up and running. This week has drums tracked from Groove Agent (which I'd forgotten I had until I scared up the CDs to install everything on the new PC) and a very grunge feel...

...basically, it's nothing like anything I've submitted so far...

I promised I'd get to it when I had the new system put together. Before anyone thinks to say anything about my handwriting, I didn't use said Wacom tablet to label it, I'm on my laptop with my mouse...

I do feel, however, very under-equipped compared to what everyone else has been posting and I'm mighty glad I managed to get a few decent tracks out before seeing everyone else's setups, because it may have killed my confidence prematurely >.<

Mine was another placeholder. I'm not too happy with myself pushing out something I was ambivalent about, but I was very un-creative last week, so I am just glad I got something in.

On the other hand, my new system is here and being set up right now, so chances of the change and shininess sparking SOMETHING of worth are pretty high for now. Next week, I go back to uni, too, so hopefully I can ride a few weeks of change induced creativity...

I have mocked up and released a bunch of stuff on my blog: http://thealastair.tumblr.com

also, I'm releasing an EP on the 29th, here: http://thealastaircollins.bandcamp.com

How'd we all go, from our own perspectives?

I, for one, am kinda happy with what I got, since I was dicking around with a new program. I'm a little annoyed I couldn't get a mix straight out of 'Tabletop', but the sounds worked pretty well, so you take what you can get, really.

I've done an experiment in FL Studio Mobile (which I'd not really made anything with previously) while waiting for my new system to arrive >.<

I've been having some interesting discussions with other electronic artists I know about how electronic artists (or DJs) have a pretty free reign of deciding exactly how much work they need to do for their live sets. If you just turn up with an iPod and push play, you'll still be able to deliver the show sonically, but will it be visually interesting?... food for thought, especially since all the guys playing the recent Big Day Out's Boiler Room pretty much had their fancy setups just for show... or so it looked from the ground

Gigging is still something I'm in the process of working out, but I get the simplest set of tools = ease of writing. I get bogged down if I introduce too much at once in to my toolkit

I have a plentitude of externals, around 6TB now I think, where I store my iTunes library and my photo and music work archives. I prefer a reasonably conservative in-system storage option, since it encourages me to archive and backup often
