Oh, leather boy

By fetalface on February 25, 2024 11:55 pm

The prompt from our meetup group was 219 BPM
So I tried.

Words:
Oh, leather boy
As you stand in the doorway
All illuminated by the smile
Of a crocodile moon

Oh, just this once
I will fail to consider
How your brother fucked me over
In that bank deal last winter

So take off those nasty old boots
And follow me
Just take off that god awful jacket
And follow me
Just take off those horrible pants
And follow me
Into the star-lit sea
Forever

Oh, leather boy

Tidy! Leatherboi sent me some knickers if you want em.

Knickers! Knickers! Knickers!

The contrast with the quick drum machine and the nonchalant vocals over it with thick synth patch is very interesting.

I want to know more about this bank deal!

This is super cool - and that breakdown goes HARD. Almost danceable. Almost.

Strangely it reminds me of Sugarboy:

Thanks! I sure couldn't have sung that fast.

Ha ha! "Bank deal" was the best I could come up with but I'm not even sure what that would mean. I should see if Duran Duran will write me some lyrics, it's really hard

Wow! Thanks! Hadn't heard that one before, but there's some similar structure isn't there? Not the kind of energy I was going for though. I kind of wish I had pitch shifted the higher vocals down an octave, but too late now

This track has a lot of personality. That crazy beat, coupled with the lyrics make for something very unique. That was a really fun one.

oh dang that is a fast bpm and a cool idea yikes I'm usually stuck under 100.  The frenetic beat mixed with your vocals is a cool contrast.  That dark synth sounds super cool too. Yay!

Oh it was 219 not 119? cool

Credit deserved for working in that restriction, it led to something unique - which is cool

Have you ever listened to Stice? I love them because of how purely… insane… everything they do is. This really tickles a similar itch for me.

I love it. It is wild. It needs a fast cut short movie  centered around the bank deal.

woo!

Mee too, and I can't even count that high.

Yes and I can't even tell if I made it double time or not. Maybe kinda almost.

Ooh I've got some recs to go through! Thank you for this one. Maybe we'll make another video once I figure out what a "bank deal" is.

Wow! Crocodile moon gif!!!!!

It's interesting because the intense drums feel like 219 while the contrasting vocal delivery feels like at half that speed for some juxtaposition. Also I laughed at how everyone in this thread is like "tell me about that bank deal." Such intrigue! Maybe that'll be some lyrical inspiration for a future weekly beat?

love this! great texture and atmosphere. really engaging vocals. favorited

Interesting song, there's a hot, sweaty story here.
