Ohh that bass is DEEP. Definitely a sense of a stomping, plodding torment of ogres. There sorta wavering almost vocal elements are really unsettling against a melody that's almost playful, really great little fun track!
The wind instruments with their fast jaws like line is a very interesting background for the low stomp. The wailings of ungodly beasts in the background will haut me for the rest of the day.
Was drawn in by the amusing title. Was tickled by the first dancing theme. Was unnerved by :38. Was concerned for my safety by :47....and then I got a breath of fresh air at 1:00. Like running for my life and having a moment's pause.
I think I became the ogre's snackle at 1:33 though.
Goddamn this was an adventure. Love it.
wow wow wow, you have broken in to strange new worlds of sound
i am scared/ delighted
!!!
This is not what I expected in the best way.
It's like you found the inverse of the sweet spot on a delay. Normally you're tweaking from it's boring to it's adding rhythm and interest, and instead you found the backwards knob and it added discomfort and madness. And it is so cool.
Definitely "oh shit, I wasn't supposed to go here yet" music.
Ok, you made the hairs on my neck stand on end a little bit with this. Those groans are so unsettling!!! Hahahahaha... Great work, super dark and spooky.
This was a real pleasure cranked up on my 8 in monitors! A true physical sensation.
IDK what it is but there is a lot of people playing with some cool saturation and crunch this week. Rad track.
Short, but works very well. When I'm typing this, I'm looking at Emily's GIF of choice and I just can't think of anything else than what's in that picture. Yeah, this really works!
Thanks for the kind comments, all! I dunno, I'm not cognizant enough to have a "formula," but I would say a "pattern" I tend to fall into with WB is some combination of
- brutally distorted bass blats at the edge of human hearing range
- haphazardly selected Garageband pitch shifter plugin that makes everything sound like satan
- 1 moment of complete silence
- Clarinet or vocal soaked in digital reverb and/or craft beer
Any way you slice it, I'm having fun. One of these years I'll do every week
