Mushroom Forest

By ViridianLoom on October 6, 2024 11:04 pm

A very simple little video-gamey track. Been playing a lot of Against the Storm this past week so I've been vibing with the fantasy music. Definitely copying Level Capybara's vibes on this one too.

I'm going to stop weekly beats for now, at least for the month of October. I originally typed up a long spiel as to why, but I also think that maybe it's better sometimes to just not be too verbose about these kinds of things and just do it. The plan is to finish up some other stuff that is a higher priority to me and spend some time working on some personal things. So yeah. I feel pretty excited about music still, I just need to regain control of the time table.

That said though, I massively appreciate everyone who has continued to be supportive and it's not like I'm disappearing from the community or discord, so I'll stay in touch and (hopefully) finally get caught up on some of ya'lls music. Mad love to everyone.

I love the track, definitely has me in like I just booted up my 486 to delve into <insert DOS era "first person" RPG here>... great vibe.  On a personal note, I'm glad you're taking some time, AND that you don't feel the need to "explain yourself" (or at least resisted the urge).  Time is the most valuable thing any of us will ever have... it's the only resource we can't get more of, so I think more people should think deeply and honestly about when and how they spend it, and I commend you on making a choice to spend yours deliberately, whatever you happen to spent it on.

Oh I like the vibe of this track! I definitely get the video game medieval vibe. Even some old Nintendo rpg atmospheres The orchestral hits are interesting, they help with the dynamism of this track.

Ah it’s too bad for us that you won’t be contributing to the weekly tracks! But it’s good to focus on what’s important and I wish you all the best there! I hope everything is fine and that the additional time will help you! Come back at some point in the future! smile

this sounds EXACTLY like what I would imagine in a PS1 JRPG while the characters are walking through a mushroom forest, damn... Super well executed!!!
I'm happy to hear you're taking a break for the right reasons heart
Looking forward to listening to your stuff when you get back. and if you make other cool stuff in the meantime, please do share as well!!!

You know when you're playing an older game and they do something that pushes the sound farther than it seems like the system ought to be able to? Like the old chord tricks with NES era systems where they're basically hitting things fast enough that our brains fill in the gaps, and you're like... how is this sound coming out.

The first few bars absolutely hit that PS1 JRPG vibe, and then it's like the CRT scanlines vanish and we get hit more depth and variety than is allowed. I want to put on a cloak and run around in the woods to it.

On the break, this thing can definitely be overwhelming. I _submitted_ for week 40, but I've had multiple periods of... this doesn't fit in life right now... that means I haven't put out 40 tracks. Looking forward to hearing what you put out when you do, but in the mean time, no stress or expectations friend.

I’ll miss your sound here for sure, but it sounds like you’ve got a solid plan and some cool projects lined up! Always excited to hear your latest, so I’ll look forward to it and wish you a Happy October in the meantime. wink I like the orchestral arrangement and the reverby percussion here. This has a cool fantasy waltz vibe to it!

heart heart heart

i like.

I thoroughly enjoyed this! If this came up in a game I was playing I would definitely hang around that area longer to listen to it! A really really nice piece!
