India Underwater

By evanericksonmusic on January 9, 2026 5:30 am

Hi all,

Replacement M8 is back, and with it came a surge of inspiration to finish this song I started last month that’s going to be the closing track to an EP I’ve been writing since October.

This song was a big point of growth in my understanding of MIDI, mixing, builds, sound design, and FX. It is a VERY handcrafted piece, and I feel it is a good capstone for all the learning / practice I did in 2025.

I stole a clip of one of my best friends singing in India. She is on her first big solo trip. My only way to connect with the world or my friends right now is to vicariously live through other people. I created my own version of my friend’s trip to India. I used her vocal cords to replace my own while I have none (non-literal).

I hooe you enjoy “India Underwater.” I won’t be posting it elsewhere until I finish making my lightshow with my EP. That’s going to take months, though.

I hope they have towels.

absolutely beautiful. so many wonderful layers coalescing. crazy evolutions that transform into something entirely different.

Wow, this one took some TURNS. Really dope.  Love the vocal samples!

Definitely one of your most cohesive and flowing tracks yet! Good job on this one!

wow, the continual development on this is really fascinating

great job!

absolute chaos, yet very deliberate and somehow controlled
utterly unpredictable yet that just drew me in more because I knew whatever was coming next would captivate me and it did not disappoint
so many wonderful natural samples and great sound design

This is a trip! Like, what is even going on in there? I'm sure it would be even cooler if my brain could keep up with it.
I wanna hear the rest of the EP now.

Great job, bud!

This was so haunting and enchanting, has Imogen Heap vibes at the start. Then I got floored by the crunchy reese and breakbeats. Love the distortion and panning effects at 2:30. Gah it's all soo good!

Wow, this is beautiful. The way the vocals and shimmery pad thing faded in around 1.55 legit gave me goosebumps.

Did not foresee where this was going and I'm here for it!

What a beautifully crafted trip.. thanks for sharing!

That was wild, man, nicely one!!! The ethereal vocals work REALLY well here, especially when contrasted with the gritty breaks and dirty lead.

wow that was such an intense listen with moments of real beauty woven throughout. feel like i just experienced a month long adventure compressed into 4 minutes!
kick ass heart

Wow, what a trip.. The part at 2:15 where it goes completely off the rails is bonkers!

suppper nice beats and developments and those birds, and the vocals are cool, but when the synths go bananas its soooo good!!! great to hear on good speakers to get all the details!

There is a fine line between beauty and chaos and this track surfs it in the best possible way

Beautiful. The dives into jungle/breakbeat and that thick reese bass are delightful, but some of the more unexpected and unhinged qualities really remind me of late 90s Orbital, like The Girl with the Sun in Her Head, and those bizarre ephemeral moments of beauty amidst the rhythmic chaos. Really fantastic work.
