Behind on listening to other's WB this week and last. Hope to get back to it soon. Attention too split for now. Tet (lunar New Year) breakfast, w/ in-laws. Wore Áo Dài for fun. Just the 4 of us this year. Nice check in call with mom. Heavy raining this week. Hard to find time for walks. Dinner with Gesceap, Crashfaster, E, and P. Shared music, talked about movies, swapped stories, and caught up. Nice night. Deloreand Overdrive booking for POW Bonus round confirmed. Wife working on flyer. Found personal booking requests on instagram that had been hidden in a section of my DM's. Apparently I missed out on a paid gig months ago and didn't know sad Generally don't like checking Socials. Miss messages all the time. Setup pinned comment on Bluesky as a warning about it recently. Mostly YT and instagram these days.

Binged watched Severance's 2 seasons. Talked with AL about how it reminded me of old jobs. The language used to control, unionization prevention, and hierarchy structure experiences between different jobs. The show feels like a master class with the themes satired. Real life a bit too close to satire in some cases. Tech and Food service especially. Comparing notes having worked private, governmental, and contracted jobs. Probably should try for non-profit next just to complete the set (early internships not included). Good sci-fi premiss.

Worked on Delorean Overdrive setup. Made new modular patch in the 104HP case and rearranged modules for ergonomics. Took out 2hp mixer and Music Thing Modular Radio Music (Intros too much BG noise). Experimented with using contact mic to trigger Michgan Synth Works SY0.5 and routed noise sweeps and Electro Faustus EF01 to one output. Might move EF01 to 4th instead. Need to setup midi channels and review set file.

Media Consumed: Severance, Sorceress (1982), Highlander (1986), The Watch (2012), The Age of Magical Over thinking by Amanda Montell, On Bull shit by Harry G. Frankfurt, The Incal by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Mœbius, Aphex Twin - Cheetah EP, Forest Drive West - Dualism EP, Nullsleep - Boundary, Kid Spatula - Joozy, John Beltran & Placid Angles - Canada, Tim Hecker - No Highs, Oneohtrix Point Never - Again (blur ray Edition) - Tranquilizer, 1, 2, 3, 4,

Software Used:

[2_17_2026 MusicMouse]
Eventide MusicMouse
Ableton
Tal-Bassline 101
Tal-J-8
Tal-Chorus
ALM Busy Circuits Almicon
ALM Busy Circuits QuaidraVerb
Izotope Ozone 10

[2_20_2026 smpleGen]
Ableton
inphonik RX950
AudioRealism Abl3x
ALM Busy Circuits Almicon
Ozone 10

2 tracks. Short on time and investment this week. Both tracks made on laptop speakers, visual mixing, and ozone 10's automated mastering. Stuck with limitation explorations and short sessions.

For MusicMouse, made with Eventide's recreation of the old software. By waving mouse around you can send quanitized midi data clocked to external midi for novel results. allowed for only 2 midi layers using this method, with some basic improvised motions. Used the midi to create system that reacts like old casio keybord accompaniment modes. Entire song made with a few mouse waves (track pad in my case).

smplGen made with ableton's generative features and modulators. Limited myself to 4 midi tracks and an hour to make something. More ambient aims.

I was just watching a video on Music Mouse on the original Apple computer! Really really love the sounds in the first piece, so rich and deep. Second part is great too, lovely soundscape. Great tracks!

peak walking and exploring sounds

This is such a vibe. Magical clean FM-y sounds there, I love this kind of sound design. Pleasant, but just trippy enough to be intriguing and curious. Very illustrative and cinematic.

No notes, five stars.

such a cool meditative journey between the two.  Exploration to Contemplation.  The bass sounds great too.  Also Severance was my fav show in a looooong time.  I wish there was more.  Such good characters and inspiring quotes.

yeah i've fallen behind on listening too, i was good about it for a couple weeks, maybe a few, but then i really dropped off listening. anyways, i'm glad i have stumbled upon this track. i like the different movements and sound design of it.

Haha yeah, that software has really been making the rounds lately. I saw MylarMelodies using it on instagram and got curious. A few hours later ALM Busy Circuit had a video of it (new eventide version) hooked up to their all in one modular doing some interesting things. At that point I gave in and picked it up to try. I like the idea behind it. Simple but, perfect for having fun experimenting.

Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. It's not my favorite set of songs I've made but, it was good practice.

Thanks for listening smile I really enjoyed Severance! My wife really wanted me to watch it. I am glad I finally got around to it. I was intrigued by the implications of concept and really got sucked into the writing and production. I recently watched Pluribus and Foundation. I've been feeling pretty spoiled for quality scifi TV shows lately.

Keeping up with listening is a challenge in itself. I try not to worry about it too much, as it's bound to happen. Thanks for listening! The first one was a fun experiment and really surprised me. It's very different from what I'd compose had I not tinkered with Magic Mice. Apparently the tools mater sometimes tongue

Who'd of thought? smile
