steady on
when you don’t know where you are goin'
just be
hold fast to love
leave the rest to me
steady on
just be
in the depths of your heart
hold onto your dreams
let your worries float away
into the sea
just be

asked a friend up in the upper peninsula of Michigan last year to do a collaboration - he sent me a nice guitar stem in july 2023 - the file was called "steady eddy" - i played with it a bit: a little unintelligible vocals & few notes of synthbass - after a few notes on the guitar stem in august 2023 he sent me a new stem that i called "steady emmy" & there the file sat till this week - huzzah for the weekly motivation! i finished the song!
this week i took that guitar stem given to me and did this:
*doubled & layered the guitar stem from august 2023 with some processing
*left the unintelligible vocals i recorded from july 2023 as vocal layer & added processing = 4 vocal tracks total here
*rewrote the synthbass part
*attempted some drum programing (would really like to get better at this - drum machine would be nice)
*wrote lyrics
*recorded the new 3 vocal tracks
*mixed everything to the peak standard parameters on the mvMeter2 *finalized this track to the RMS standard parameter on the mvMeter2
& was sitting on the youlean lufs meter at -12ish integrated lufs
beautiful, enjoyed the listen, a successful collaboration (maybe tangential but somehow some positive half-memories of radiohead true love waits bootlegs from the 90s coming back)

adding drums to a stem that might not be 100% consistent in tempo would have been somewhat tricky in any circumstance! still sounds natural in the mix and variations in timing accuracy would actually be appropriate for to the wall of sound indie jam vibe. the ethereal vocals are so pure-sounding and calming too and binds the tune together really well! also appreciated the mixing and mastering efforts, it's more than i would bother to do for my own stuff haha

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and mood of the track. Seth's guitar combined with your vocals gave me some Twin Peaks vibes. Excellent sound and finaliZin

I don't know enough about music theory to really comment, but I like the key shift at 2:20; almost expected it to develop a bit further before coming back! I understand this is part of the stem, just sayin'!

Lovely combination of vocals to guitar & LOVE hearing your voice a more out in the open(not as much reverb as usual... and you have a very skilled voice: the guitar has this slight dissonant tuning, it's beautiful, but i'd imagine i'd have so much trouble singing in tune, you pull it off so well). Great work!

This is timeless. It could be released in 2024 (it was!) but it could also very well be a record from 1983.

Great juxtaposition of the guitar and the floating vocals - this works perfectly. Your tracks are like the creation of a landscape with sparse elements that add patches of color and texture.

Some interesting guitar chordal / key changes in this - guitarist is working well with the slap-back echo too. Vocals sit perfectly. Cheers
