Labagar

Hey there !
First track here, happy to finally post something !

I tried to pick a few ideas from the battle theme of Final Fantasy 6, cause I'm a big fan of Uematsu (who isn't tbh?), then I switched to something a bit more personal ! It is a little raw since I did not have much energy / time to do it, but oh well ! big_smile

Also, since I'm really (like, really, really) bad at finding titles for my tracks, I asked friends to give me some ideas and I kept "LaBagar" which is a funny way to write "the fight" in french.

Hope you'll enjoy it smile

Hey !

Well I'm a big fan of Larkin so there might be a bit of him in this track haha

Thanks for the listen and comment smile

Hey Ducky, welcome to WB! That opening statement feels very Hollow Knight-ish indeed. I can't say I hear much of FF6's battle theme in your piece. Other than maybe trying to get a similar sense of momentum? Or maybe I've just forgotten how that one sounds, it's been ages since I've heard it. So it may very well be me.

If you don't mind me saying, the mix sounds kind of far away and small. And quite reverby. By the sounds of things there is a lot of headroom in this. More than I think there should be. Of course you want to preserve the sense of dynamics of music like this. But if it was a tad more upfront it would have more impact. Compressors are your friend.

Anyway, I like the tune. Well done!

Hey there !

The few elements I picked up were much related with structure and the phrygian mode used by Uematsu. I didn't intend to be too close of that FF6 track. So yeah it is a bit far from a style perspective indeed big_smile

For the mixing thing you're absolutely right ! I compose on Musescore and didn't put much effort into the sound quality here because of the lack of time and energy I had. Also, this is something I definitly need to get better on so I'll pay attention next time big_smile

Thanks for listening and for the positive / constructive feedback heart

welcome! what an intro track, cheers!

Thank you very much heart

Welcome! Glad you’re here….and this is a great first post!

Love the composition of this. Absolutely getting the feel of RPGs and tactical games I’ve played, that sort of surging energy. Could definitely get into hearing this behind action in a battle smile Really enjoying your instrumentation as well.

Awesome hearing more orchestral-style work on Weekly Beats! Looking forward to more.

Very impressive stuff and a very tasteful reverb. Haters will say it's too much, I think it's cinematic.
Welcome.

Haha I'm glad you liked it !

I might be a hater myself haha, but the statement about the mix and reverb was accurate imho big_smile
I definitely need to work on that !

Thanks for the listening and support heart

Great work on making the orchestral instrumentation sound natural! I struggle with that. This seems pretty great for a tactical overview screen!

Very cinematic, this is excellent!
