You can change yourself

By djippy on March 22, 2026 1:57 pm

I just had fun to re-track last week song with a rock trio arrangement instead of synths. Didn't take the time to track vocals, I feel it would have been nice.

Telecaster, Jazz Bass, Acoustic drums... Rock.

For the mix, I did "crush" the drums with compression, some compression on the bass. Levels. That's it.

Fitness journal. Not great. only 2 days doing sports (maybe 2.5hrs total) and not great being disciplined with food so I did get up to 91 kg... (Damn I was down to 89 kg a couple weeks ago, I need to get back at it!!!)

Pas facile.

always love your drum playing, this track got such magnificent fury to its charge heart

Nice one! Fitness is tough man. Just keep at it and it’ll become a habit

nice work! heavy feel on the rhythm, gives that feeling of late night jamming haha

hey btw for the fitness journal I think your solution is underneath your nose: just play as much drums as you can with as much intensity as you can, seems to me like the best way to train your body among instruments (unless you count smashing your guitar on stage, that could be marginally more physically intense but not for too long heheh)

love the swing and sway of the drums with the guitar strums.  Excellent guitar solo and love the drum outro \m/

Not sure how I could change myself, but I can definitely change the bpm of this track. Maybe neither really need to change, it's nice like this.
Oh, you can make the BPM the same as your weight from now on, see how that works out

Cool re-interpretation of the previous week's track.  As always you capture a great raw and gritty sound on the instruments.  I liked that super hot guitar that came in briefly near the end.  I wouldn't have minded a little bit more of it.

very tasty with the drums & guitars!

Had to go back to the previous one first so I could remember how it ended and hear the connection between. This is the story my mind created when listening: in part one there's a person sitting by their computer, seeing the whole world (but actually just the mediated snippets they have in their particular filter bubble). The electronic sounds of part 1 feel like a metaphor for being stuck "in that machine" or too hard on the minds ideas of how things "should be" and so, they are frustrated by not being able to change the world.

Part 2 (this song): the person realizes "hey I have all those cool instruments in my garage!" so they get up, leave the screen, and are using their own body to channel the music. It is authentic and comes from within. Making the physical movements and sounds shift the state of their mind and they remember:"I'm the actor of my reality. I can choose my actions. In so doing, I am changing the world already, the world of my life."

(please note that I'm not suggesting electronic music is any worse, this was simply the story I got in my mind from the different songs) smile

Yeah, it could be an option to go all in on the drums, but actually I do not have that much fun working on my chops, and when you really work on the technical things (rudiments, independance, etc...), you should be super relax and not use much of your muscles... Sun is getting out earlier, temperature is getting mild, I'll most likely go outside and move.

Yeah Jam sessions with Niko on a rock context is actually physical (I do hit hard on those drums most of the time there lol) and I'll still do those. Thanks a lot for coming back here and listen to my track week after weeks. I have to start for last week, I didn't listen to you guys tracks yet.

Yeah, I just "mimicked" the synth lead I did on the previous week for the guitar solo. Thanks man, Right after I reply to you guys messages, I'll go listen to your tracks, didn't take time for music listening - writing yet this week... It is a busy one.

Yeah, quick guitar solo... Trying to keep it concise. wink (Or just didn't want to put the time and efforts in...) Thanks.

I really like your interpretation of this. I didn't really think about it, I just did think it was fun to track with my "real" instruments. Wanted to maybe add a bit of vocals, something like If you don't want the world to be a shitty place, don't be a shitty person... But meh... Maybe next time.

You all rocks. Going to your tracks now and will give a little feedback.

Love the feel of this, sorta Pulp Fiction in its own way. Great drum fills smile
