Théo la terreur

By djippy on January 20, 2024 4:06 am

Since some people did chat about cowbell on the discord channels, I started to put some cowbell as a click...

First I probably wanted to go some kind of classic rock, then I remembered of some fun acoustic rock so I decided to grab my cheap acoustic guitar. Did come with something, and it was not planned but there are quite a bit of 7/4 time signatures bars.

I like what I could do to complement first guitar with the second one with some harmonies. Then added a bass track, then some vocals and I was quite happy about the result already, but you guys compliments me on my drums and I was able to track it so I did!!! (Did use the metal brushes for the track as I feel it probably works better than the big impacts of wood sticks.)

I am not sure exactly about the acoustic guitar sound itself, but doing those weekly beats I understand that going crazy on the mixes itself is not what I like the most so I basically just low cut eqvfor the guitars. No eq on drums and bass, just loads of compression. Some panning here and there. I might come back Sunday for a little other mixing session to give more separation and maybe beef up a little the instruments and vocals if I find the time (I feel I won't), but now it is an upload and I am happy to be "early" and feel the result is a fun one.

We had a bit of snow...

Lyrics

Théo est la terreur
Tout le monde a peur
Théo pourtant est gentil
La haine déchainé vers lui n’est pas ce qui le défini.

Théo, je t'aime Théo.
Théo, je t'aime Théo.

oooo 7/4 indie folk punk smile the guitar sounds great, very chunky tone w/ nice punchy compression and sits nicely over the brushed drums.

Damn, this mix is so bold.  Love how in your face the vocals are.

such fun! i think i would get along with Theo.

Super catchy drums and percussion had me boppin' along.  Vocals sound great panned out.  Excellent!

This is a fun one! Thanks for sharing!

Got an infectious step to it big_smile

The whole track sounds excellent. The acoustic guitar doesn’t sound cheap at all. Well done.

Fun vibe on this one.  The acoustic guitar sounds good and the drums are on point as always.

Probably not unsurprising to hear from me but I love the 7/4 meter, haha. It's rhythmically very cool and fun, I think the acoustic guitar adds a lot of character to the overall vibe as well.

7/4 is a favorite of mine, too.   The singing on the verses has some great attitude—I'd add those to the chop/remix TODO pile if yhe track wasn't licensed -ND

Thanks, it is a cheap dreadnought guitar (Did purchase that online at bestbuy for less than 300CAD), but a solid cedar top and it resonates pretty good. It is fairly bassy as well, without the low cut it was pretty messy...

Yeah, this is pretty much my go to for vocals, very compressed and up front in your face.

You are very welcome! It was a fun one to do as well, it did flow pretty good and was not too much of a difficult one to do.

Théo is growing on us... Even if scary.

It is not about the gear! It is about how you use it. But you are right, I didn't pay much for it but it actually resonates pretty good.

Thanks! Yeah you are one of those prog people... I don't know how you guys brain work to have odd time signatures as go to.

I'll edit my submission now, I just leaved the licensing to the default one but you have my blessing to use it.

Thanks a lot for listening all!!! See you next Sunday!

Super fun and quirky pop, more please!

very nice! great tune, enjoyed this listen

Wow, lots of winners this week. Crushed it. Interesting rhythm and melody, really catchy. Gotta love that early beating.

... Théo yé magané

love this blend of folk punk / love the drums and cowbell
