Laptop Destroyer - Rollercoaster Malfunction

By laptopdestroyer on January 20, 2024 5:18 am

I had a real good crack at making a banger with Ableton and all the serious gear all week, but nothing worked out...

So I busted out Lovely Composer and a few hours later a had this little squiggly bit of beat action.

First export was direct as a WAV, 100% pure chip vibes, but it just felt a bit flat...
So I exported the stems and added some different reverbs to the parts and then ran it through Guitar rig to make it 22k and 12 bit. The beats now kicks way harder than the original - I don't really care if it ain't 100% authentic chiptune, I just wanna make bangers!

For the tune, I just love making crazy square wave sounds, I always want the melody to sound like collecting stars and jumping on bubbḻes, rather than anything you could actually hum, ya know?!

anyway, enjoy!
big love, yay, k!

so many squiggles! love the aliased sound on this, the beat really does pump hard!

ooooooo this is a cool vibe for lovely composer!

Cool. Really like the little bits that fall out of time with the main rhythm

This is one of those weird weeklybeats gems that I doubt I'd run across anywhere else.  The whole thing is fun, but the driving motif with the walkdowns starting at 1:00+ is my favorite; imo it could even have used another round or two of those.  I hadn't head of Lovely Composer before, thinking of trying it out this weekend.

Yo @ineff
Thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah, the track needs to do more i think, having those secondary ideas is always the hard bit for me...

You looked at Super Super Sounds!! That one's a total labor of love. Since there's barely anyone actually reviewing music anymore I do it just to send little positive messages to all the musicians that I love and inspire me. It's kinda like WeeklyBeats that way; tiny bits of to keep artists inspired, and they can chuck a quote in their next press release/bio/whatever if they like. Releasing music is so soul destroying these days with all the indifference that comes from being so saturated with socials bleugh... Hopefully SSS helps that a bit!!!

This track makes me happy! I think it captures the joy I experience when I just sit down to make music, but end up enjoying the core fun of crazy sound juxtaposition underpinned with a cool beat.

wow this sounds amazing - i only have a mac so unfortunately i can't run LC, but it was really cool to look up and check out!  what a cool thing.  like hyper Mario Paint

Perfect! yes, i love making crazy noises way more than writing melodies. crazy noises that double as a 'melody' of sorts is the best i reckon!
