L'escargot

A small one this week.

Started with the bass recording.
Then, literally a one take for drums, then a little editing.
Added some hummmmmmm mmmmmmmmm another day (direct with the laptop mic)

Some Fx.

Sorry guys, it doesn't feel like I am doing "Full" songs yet this year. It takes me some time to find an ok schedule, discipline, energy, etc... to get back into this.

anyways. thanks for listening!

It almost feels like you're fighting to play these instruments through some kind of mud, with the lethargic pace it gives off. Really cool!

I really dig the vibe of this, man. Also, there's still a lot of time in the year, so you can get to full songs when it feels right. smile

Very cool mood to this one man.  The hums are nice and haunting sounding.

This is such a vibe. Lovely grungy slow jam smile Haunting for sure!

A laid back stoner rock!

Beautiful. Haunting too. I'm especially digging the deep, earthy tone of the humming. Nice job!

Yes, it is kind of a fight against me, instruments, time, time, life, stuff for me at this start of the year. It is allright... Thanks!

Yep, 52 is a lot. And even if I only do sketches 52 times, it doesn't matter that much, if I miss some weeks, it is ok too. I think it is cool that I release a little something and "force" myself to fiddle a little bit every weeks. I do not put too much pressure about quality, yes I want to release something but don't mind that much if not that great.

I like the vibe as well, I would re-do the drums (there are some clicks on the edit, some stuff doesn't feel that ok to me but it is fine)

Thanks a lot Chrisfoo, I like the mood as well, of course I always want MORE since I am human but this will do the job fine. smile

ROCK!!!

I dig the "sound" you're getting.  I'm also kind of building up towards doing some "full" songs this year so I totally feel you.  And I agree, the important part is just getting in there as often as possible and making some noises, even if it's not every week and even if it's not fully fleshed out songs.

I like the sensitive bassplaying and the drumming. The hmmmmmms are so soothing. Beauty- and peaceful track.

Really like the drumming, but I think the magic of this is the distance of the music, unique experience listening to it: like a comfort-out-of-reach. Badass!

Nice. C'est ce qui faut faire. Se forcer dans une direction. sortir de sa zone.

T'es vraiment à l'aise avec la track de drum. Epic.

The vibe in this one is so chill. Feels like im in a Noir film

no apologies!

your drums sound really good.  using the ribbon again?  what model of microphone is it?

Everyone's commenting about the vibe and I'm going to be unoriginal  and say I like the vibe on this one too, haha. There's a nice full atmospheric low end with the drums keeping stuff grounded and cutting through the mix, with just enough florish as to keep things moving forward without pulling you out of the chill. Even if it isn't "full", it's a good base to expand upon later. The important thing, as always, is that you made something smile

Sensitive playing for a sensible guy... smile

Little bit of plate reverb, some loose playing and here you are. Thanks!

Bah, pas TANT a l'aise sur mes drums, j'avais juste pas de temps et ma conjointe voulais plus que je fasse de bruit donc j'ai juste fait une take et edit qques cossins... Mais ca va, j'ai des go to qui font le boulot...

All about the vibes...

Nah, those do have some close mics, it is the Shure PG kit, closed miked pg52 kick, pg56 toms - snare + one rode ntk overhead and another OH that is a neet worker bee placed in a weird way. (I do have a pair of rode ntk now but one is stuck at the rehearsal studio because we want to record some vocals for bertrude rock...)

The ribbon mic was an Apex 250.

It is all about the vibe... live from my garage. smile Let's start something for this week now...

Thank you all for the kind words.

Vibing with this at work right now

Broody, moody and solid. You do a lot with a little.  Drums are rock solid.

Sounds good, I can chill with this groove

Great sounding kit

One might call it sluggish, I prefer laid back.

Pareto principle... 20% effort for 80% of the results. I rarely go over this 20%, you just need to chose carefully which 20% is the one that counts.

Thanks! Pretty happy about it, I just need to get better to hit those... lol. Did buy this kit at the end of 2020 and I think I'll stick to it for a while. https://weeklybeats.com/djippy/music/new-drums!!!

This is not the picollo snare on this track, I do have a 14" x 8" big black steel snare for this.

Laid back it is. smile Thanks to be here and still be generous with comments!

I like this mood.

Enjoying going through your releases this week. Your dynamic, almost jazzy sensitivity on the kit is really wonderful. I'd like to be able to play like that. You really pull the sound out of the kit.
