Amuse

By djippy on February 15, 2026 3:40 pm

A raw rock track for you guys this week. I finally used one of my "cheats", as this track is not "finished". It was not composed this week neither, those are 3 parts that goes together, but the song itself is not written yet and we didn't take the time to polish or record properly...

This is a live take, 3-4 little edits (the end with some copy paste of the close guit microphone, and the 3 different parts were cut from the jam...)

One large diaphragme condenser room mic that points to the drum (with loads of leak from the guitar, the drum mic itself could have work) and a closed mic on the guitar cab.

It sounds kind of boxy-roomy, but I suppose it is normal as our room is not treated, probably close to a cube, etc... It is fairly hi-ceiling, decently big room tho...

I am sorry I didn't take the time to try to add any bass, or vocals, etc... It is really a "week off" for me.

I called the track "Amuse" because there are little parts here and there that reminds me of "Muse" band.

Only compression-limiting-eq was added to the track. (I did let "LANDR mastering plugin" take care of the final compression EQ, did add compression before it goes in there)

Here is the corridor of one of the space in Montreal where tons of bands rehearse... This is Cité 2000, capture was from there

The local itself:

ROCK!

Fitness journey... Did cheat quite a bit eating healthy but was "fine" about the training. I was able to do again about 7hrs of cardio. Weight didn't change at about 197lbs - 89kg, this is not encouraging, but it is what it is. I might have little slowdowns here and there but I don't want to bail out, so let's GO!!!

ooooo baby i like it raaaaawwwwww!!
such great guitar tone. drums with room-tone cut just the right way through the mix, so good! heart

7 hrs of cardio!  BEAST!
this rocked!

i'm closing my eyes to not see the cheats to NOT put you in WB jail!

this was an enjoyable amuse-bouche smile

je parle francais wink

love the ending repetition!

Nothin like the boys locked indoors going ham with a roomful of equipment lol. Sounds like a lot of fun. Love the rhythm change at 1:19.

i can hear this tune coming from one of those doors in that corridor i yearn for the band practice building heart raw as hell it's great, as always absolutely love ur drum playing too!

Bon Appétit!

I have a good layer for this week... It was recorded - edited last week, and did print a mixdown so it can be considered as "Finished"! I feel you did read the discord! wink lol.

I'll put some more work on multiple tracks this year... Loved your pianos for this week track. Hope I didn't waste your time listening to this "sketch"

Yeah! Playing with other humans is very fun. Not the same kind of challenge as composing by yourself that is super fun as well.

Yeah, there are loads of loud as fuck bands playing on this building. This is great...

I appreciate a lot that you like the way I hit those drums. If you'd like me to try to add my acoustic drums on one of your tracks it would be my pleasure to try!

Yeah!

Ça rock! Cool toune! La guite et le son super raw me rappellent un peu la vibe du band ''Pelican'' , l'album ''The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw''. J'ai écouté ça beaucoup

I always dig that raw "in the room" feel.  Rock on!

That's quite the workout.

Yeah feels raw like we're hanging with you and the band, nice. Drumming can be some cardio! Like the pics.

MAAAAAN would have loved to have been in person for this one but like miraclemiles says, kinda feels like I'm there! Loved it

A performance as raw and dirty as the floor in that picture.

Rock!

Nice. Do you like lightening bolt? Helmet?
I do. And this.

\m/

Jamming it out hard!

Delicious!

hail yais \m/ love the riding rhythm of the guitar on those heavy chunks.  Feels like the black keys got mad!  Lets go!

Nice one! I haven’t rehearsed with my band in almost a year, this makes me want to get the gang together again.

Oh yeah! Groovy

Love the grit of this, like being in the room with it! Totally makes me miss jamming with my rock band heart

I totally miss the jam. Aimless, sloppy and wholly satisfying. Really enjoyed dropping in on this.

LOVE that guitar tone and the opening riff. The grit and chunk of this feels awesome.

This is exactly what it is! (almost) No edits, not that much eq. (yeah tons of compression because this is what I do)

Playing stupid 4-4 over loud guitars is super fun!

We say "Groovy", not "Sloppy" lol... wink Yeah I know. Not the tightest on the universe, but if it gives satisfaction, super happy!
