PRIDE

By Dizzi800 on June 15, 2024 6:22 pm

I have complicated thoughts about Pride month, and felt I could put them into a song. Learned a lot on this one!

CC always appreciated!

NOTE: I say "a false faith" in the song. I do not mean faith is false: I mean those that use their faith as an excuse for homophobia

Lyrics:
why is my existence political
why is our existence political
we just want to live our lives
live long enough to make the archives

All we  want is to exist
be on no one's hit- list
judged as individuals
by our own principles

why is my existence political
why is our existence political
we just want to live our lives
live long enough to make the archives

Pride is a time to remember
all of our fallen members
we celebrate our progress
and hope we don't regress

why is my existence political
why is our existence political
we just want to live our lives
live long enough to make the archives

when will the closet not exist
when our rights aren't at risk
when we are all safe
from those hiding behind a false faith

why is my existence political
why is our existence political
we just want to live our lives
live long enough to make the archives

I like the chorus here, nice work :-)

I'm glad I live somewhere my existence isn't as political, instead just it being my existence. Stay strong, the first pride was a riot.

LOVE the lyrics, thank you for being you!  I have a whole slew of tracks on this topic; sometimes I just want to be a random idiot not a "representative for a global community" every time I leave the house.

This song feels like the Pride Parade is over and everyone is trudging forward, marching, back to their homes, back to the closet, back to banality....

great piece.

heart heart heart
Wishing you many reasons to celebrate, and a life as long as you wish, to the archives and beyond.

"why is my existence political"
beautiful, thank you  heart

Yeah. I'm in Canada where it's pretty good but still scary at times
