Winter Night Vibes (Electroplankton #004)

By Crash Overture on February 28, 2026 7:13 pm

Electroplankton is a Nintendo DS game from 2006

This time around I recorded two tracks and edited them together.
I used Sun-Animalcule (the chimes) for the main track and Lumiloop (pads) for the backing track. Recorded one track, and then performed the next, combined and see what happens.

Did it all in audicity, but if I have time I might try reaper because my buddy with a lap guitar told me this might be a good way to perform and record. I did do a try in FL studio and was like "okay, I need to learn more, but this is something"  The field recorder also works, but I get too much of my own personal noise in that, but I'm sure with some experimentation I will figure out the best way to play, compose, and edit.

Also in good news, didn't need to replace my car's transmission (it was a 50 buck fix), so I ordered an erhu. In a couple of months when I get sounds like from that, it will be showing up here.

delightful. i'm really enjoying these electroplankton tunes!
and congrats on the car news, phew

Delightful. I love how it changes and evolves over the track in a very organic way at a very relaxing pace, and the bubbles are everything lol

Excellent work! Very chill and fun, with the built-in whimsy that comes with Electroplankton. I had hours of fun with this game ("game?") but never got around to trying to create a whole track with it! Looks like I'll have to dust off my cart and give it a go. These sounds are nicer than I remember...

I think this is my favourite of the electroplankton pieces so far! I have also started trying Reaper recently, my week 10 track is entirely Reaper, so if you go that route we can commiserate, haha
