The Orphic Egg

As human consciousness grows weary and wary of all its materialistic delusions, it contracts into a single infinitesimal point of light, to safeguard itself from the illusory nature of ego. It is the ultimate paradox: ego reigned supreme on this Earth for far too long, addicted to only this notion of self-preservation, confused as self-love, while quelling any heart or true humanity. Any conscious being with a sense of connection to the rest of the universe would protect all opportunities to manifest open-hearted expansion by contracting away from ego... into a powerfully concentrated point of focus; so powerful, once condensed enough to become an all-encompassing, therefore all-accepting, vacuum of love and transcendence, it can only explode infinitely outward. It is from this place the snake who once coiled around the egg, sheds its skin to welcome the expansive power of the egg, to create yet again, a new opportunity to transcend the final illusion of separateness, and embrace the oneness of everything. The Orphic Egg, able to traverse across the veil between life and death, becomes both life and death, and lights the way towards immortal and ever-expansive loving creation.

[disclaimer: the above is just a thought i came up with to describe something i can't explain in any other form, about my life right now, perhaps about the way i'm thinking about every human life right now... it is not necessarily a 'literal' description of this music, nor need it be taken too seriously - just a thought to open your heart to the feelings i felt while making this, in general]

All synthesized in a max patch, taking from last week's for the bass drum and snare, but adding hihat, a new bass, and other synths, plus, sequencing everything a bit differently. (I really like this bass drum i came up with, it's actually two bass drums but when they combine every so often through a 'modulo'("%") op, they divide their signals into each other and leave only the remainder of that division as the output signal, which sometimes creates this square-wavey sound in the trails of the bass drum sound: while one bass drum is trailing off faster than the other, it creates a smaller range to divide into, thus causing the louder/longer bass-drum's trail to become more and more like a square-wave over the time of its decay.) With most of the max patches i post here on weeklybeats, you might need to save and then reopen to set proper initialization... and in this particular patch, there are two toggles at the top: the one nearest the left will start everything, the one near the center-top adds a higher synth(i intermittently stopped and started things with the two toggles to create more variation in rhythm and sequencing).
