Uniquely Similar

By Cosmic Cairns on March 5, 2026 8:37 pm

I needed a break from reality this week.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

In the dark woods infested with goblins
Lost my map and that could be a problem
I hear the dryads sing
As dragonflies take wing

And the breeze starts whirling all around me
As your voice still echoes and surrounds me
And take me far away
To different times and places

You warp geography and
Expand my perimeters
And though we are not one
We're still uniquely similar

Now I'm wandering through expansive deserts
And the hot sun remains omnipresent
Mirages fade away
Just sand dunes in their wake

With the temperature constantly rising
And a dust storm looms on the horizon
I'm locked here in a stasis
Searching for an oasis

I sank into the sand
And emerged from a glacial lake
You took me by the hand
And asked me if I was awake

Path was blocked we had to take a detour
Down a lane into the distant future
The stars glowed dim and faint
You screamed without restraint

Reverberated across an empty plateau
Ruined soil where only thorny weeds grow
I grabbed you by the sleeve
And said let's take our leave

You stretched your arms out wide
And incanted a sacred verse
Asked if I'd like to go
Into another universe

Don't we all. 😓 This is quite a fun fantasy song!

same here, Buddy!
lovely tune. great lyrics and melodies (vocal and guitar).
thank you!

oh yeah :45 *chefs kiss* Your vocals are sounding SOO GOOOOD. Doubled + effects + lyrics. A much needed diversion form *gestures broadly*

right there with ya! thank you for the escape. An uplifting hopeful feel throughout and sweet guitar solo

ah, a place we all would like to visit, especially now. This sounds very blissful and hopeful too. Very impressive stuff! The nicely light guitar solo in the end is the icing on the psychedelic cake. Love this!

Yes I’d like to go to another universe.

Do you know the cartoon called Adventure Time? I think that’s what your music reminds me, not about the theme song but about the universe your music creates.
Colorful, strange, surprising, with a strange sense of hope.
Loving it.

Wow this song is cool as hell.  Very Epic and covers a lot of ground.  You've been getting really good with vocal production too, it's starting to develop this Ween / Modest Mouse sound to it.

Ha! Love the warped vocals for "You warp geography". Great throwback 60s/70s paisley sound and solid vocal work. The lyrics are chef's kiss. Just well done all around.

Nice blend of 70s dreamy folk and college-rock jangle. The verses detail all sorts of environmental hazards, but the strings and calm strumming make even this feel soothing. The chorus has someone reaching out to connect, maybe even pull the narrator to safety, but that's when a harsher metallic figure comes in. Maybe invented problems are more comfortable than real-world connection to the narrator? Dude, same. But it all finally blend in the solo: a touch distorted and harsh, but mostly as pretty as a jangle bridge. A difficult connection to bridge, but beautiful and worth it

Love the sound of this, really wide and expansive, awesome track

Thanks for sharing the break from reality! I love all of it, but the guitar solo hit me particularly hard. Great creation!

Thanks!  I'm trying to get those vocals sounding better through whatever means are necessary.  smile

We all need some escapes sometimes, but especially right now.  Thanks for listening!

Thanks!  And I like the mental image of psychedelic cakes iced with guitar solos.

I'm aware of the existence of Adventure Time, but I haven't explored it much. I think I read a comic book adaptation of it once that someone gave me, but I'm not sure if I've ever watched the cartoon.  It sounds like something that might be up my alley though.

Thanks!  Ween is one of my all-time favorite bands, and there are a few Modest Mouse albums I like a lot, so if I'm getting anywhere near there, I must be on the right track.

It seemed fitting to have things get a little warped at that point.  smile  Thanks for listening!

Thanks!  I liked reading your analysis and I think you're definitely onto something there.  I kind of like the idea that when things get hazardous in your environment the option exists to just peace out of there.

Thank you!  I was picturing some wide and expansive landscapes, so hopefully some of that came through.  smile

Thanks!  I felt like I got in the flow pretty well with that solo.  It's nice when that happens.

I'm ready to go there!

Love how you're doubling up the vocals here, and your production is so exceptional. Everything is in the sweet spot. Amazing work!

Thanks!  Doing WB has taught me a lot.  There always seems to be more to learn, but WB is a good way to try stuff out and see what works.

very serene and uplifting, has a beautiful, floating feeling all over. The solo guitar in the end and between the verses is ace!
