Piano Solo in Dmin

By Bunjigram on September 29, 2024 11:47 pm

Here's a little Sunday evening piano noodle in Dmin. I had actually started around 2:00 pm today and tried to do an orchestral something with all my new VSTs, but after about 3 hours of getting nowhere, I took a break and went downstairs to pet the dog (Bunji) and get a glass of wine. Was thinking I might not meet the Week 39 deadline. But I still had a couple hours, so I dragged myself back upstairs with my second glass of wine, sat down and plunked out this little noodle in Dmin. If anything, it reveals my mood on a quiet Sunday evening when I'm not feeling very creative. This is more of an expression of glumness with a sprinkle of hope and a spoonful of gladness that I did not fold.  Hope all have a great week, and as always, thanks for stopping by. -RCN

First off, congrats on getting something finished! Sometimes it’s like the challenge of weekly creativity is allowing ourselves to change expectations of what we wanted to do…and where our creativity actually led us.

That said…I was pretty excited when you said this was a Sunday afternoon noodle, I always enjoy them. It did not disappoint. Love how the steady bass arpeggio held the bottom in the beginning while the treble sprinkled itself in…until it eventually asserted itself as a dominant part of the melody. I just closed my eyes and sank into it. Perhaps glum, but steady and powerful. A lovely piece, thank uou.

Give Bunji a scritch for me. 😊

You persevered! It came out quite pleasant to my ears too. Sometimes a bit of time away and shift in approach does the trick.

lovely playing and sets a nice heavy/light mood. i'm glad you posted it, was nice to play along with on my nylon string acoustic guitar.  smile

Yeah, now I know why they call this a "challenge." It can be tough turning on the creative juice every week and hoping to get something that works.  But then again, it's not really about what we create as much as it's about the process of creating and expressing ourselves whenever we can, regardless of our mood or schedule. Weekly Beats is a great way to develop discipline and motivation by listening to all the incredible and diverse talent on here.  Super fun.  Thanks for your comments.  I really appreciate them.

I couldn't agree more about the time away and shift in approach.  Sometimes, we just get stuck and have to go take a walk or pet the dog ... or take the dog for a walk, as mine usually insists. I'm glad you enjoyed my little tune.  Thanks for listening and commenting.

That's really cool to know you played along with it on your guitar.  Curious how that sounded.  I had a guy take one of my songs on SoundCloud and do the same thing.  He recorded some jazzy guitar licks along with my most played song called "Sunday Afternoon" and reposted it.  Gave the song a whole different feel. Anyway, really glad you liked it.  Thanks for listening.

Love the instant somber feels the tone of the piano has to it.  When the lead melody gets introduced along with the ostinato it gave me some Truman Show vibes.  Lone character walking down an empty street at 4am with the lights shining through the fog.  Sometimes a lil break in between can be just what's needed.  Excellent melody and solo.  Bass note at the end *chefskiss*
