To Forget About

By blighters_rock on February 3, 2024 7:53 am

I went with a quick, limited production this week to have a more relaxed weekend.

I thought the chromatic descent in this progression was cool, so I wrote a verse to go with it. Tried to put a more thoughtful chorus in, but then I realized that this track had already arrived at its destination.

› Lyrics

edit: so I just realized this is the same chord progression as Corinne Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On. Great tune, must have had it in my subconcious.

TFW your friends on weekly beats are writing better chords and melodies than the radio

I like the acoustic vibe of this one and the little touches of vocal harmonies are really nice.

I like it a lot, It immediately reminded me of the best years of Oasis and 90's British rock, but it fell short haha, I think it has potential to be developed more wink

Really strong vocal melodies in this song! I like it a lot. Great job on the lyrics as always! I don't know if I've mentioned it before but I think you come up with some really clever lyrical lines. Awesome job with this one! I like the minimal production and arrangement, it sounds really nice and really lets the vocal melody stand strong.

Really digging the vocal melody, particularly the little melodic fragment in "That easy", reaching up and then ending on a spicy note really brings attention to it in a great way. Pretty great easy going song, hope you have a relaxed weekend!

This is a great little tune. The little jazzy or bluesy notes in the melody are really satisfying. I think it could be turned into a fun duet with a woman talking about how easily she’ll forget about him, or something like that.

exactly this.  i wish i knew the music theory event but yeah, that's is the bee's knees my dude.

I hope I'm not that easy to forget about

Like a string out of tune
Or track that's left on mute
Like a terrible master
Your song's a disaster
Long after Weekly Beats is through

I'm the folder full of files
I'm the trackb6final_FINAL
even if you don't want to
The deadline time will remind you
You'll think about WB

The vocal phrasing here shines.  Unique delivery on what could easily be a generic song.

Yeah that was great along with the phrasing. I believe it’s a m3 in the melody over a major chord usually found in blues, and the reverse of that is usually found in a country style.

Great lyrics, intelligibility, good timing, great guitar playing, great song writing Inspiring stuff

Wow! Super solid song for a weekly beat. You've got songwriting chops my friend! I don't know the popular song you are referencing, but I know that feeling. One must trust the alchemy that happens when the primal subconscious chord progressions are filtered through our own unique idiosyncracies.
Also this is a bit of an earworm!

Nice work, very well recorded and performed.  Love the chords and how you accentuate the non-chord tone in the vocal melody.

the lyrics ive already started sing this around the house

keep them coming!

Super catchy tune that makes you want to sing along.  Your vocal range reminded me a bit of the singer from Billy Talent.  Nice work!

this is a really cool song!

Great progression, lyrics and vocals! (even if your subconscious borrowed the progression, there are only so many combinations!)

I'll add another great job on this track! A good track doesn't need lots of instruments to shine. I like the production here, especially the in-your-face vocals, those lyrics are super fun.

Excellent stripped back production. Very tastefully tuned in

Wonderful singer songwriter you are.

Your songwriting abilities definitely shine through regardless of the limited production!

That melody on the chorus really sticks with you!

Love it man!  Simple music, and simple melody on the lyrics, but super catchy and fun to sing!

Great stuff. This could be the intro to a rippin power pop tune - guitars panned wide and in your face vocals.
Also, thank you for the dim 7 chord.

I agree, maybe the band should work on it! Someone who knows how to play guitar could help wink

I appreciate the complements. I definitely spend time trying to make the lyrics fit and flow, so I'm glad they come through as designed.

I let you smart theory people figure it out. I just try to pick chords and notes that sound good! Always love to hear the analysis of it, though.

Thanks! Working on singing has been one of my goals since last WB, so it's nice to hear complements in that department.

Yeah, I try not to get too hung up on the uniqueness thing. Just put my own spin where I can. Thanks!

You are welcome! I usually try to throw in something spicy where I can. And thank you! Maybe my band will figure out an arrangement for this and we'll do just that.
