Shikaka!

Busy week. I need to reclaim a couple hours for my sanity before the weekend is up, so I went for something acoustic to save time.

ahhhhh, the perfect mix, with the up-close acoustic and then the electric screaming in the slight distance

› so great

Ah man, great chord progression. Really harkens to the style of Porcupine Tree. The mix sounds really great too, very full and resonant. Your lead guitar melodies are really nice, I especially like that you incorporated the call and response between the two guitars.

The acoustic adds so much, a great balance between it and the electric parts. Well done.

Ahh the guitar work is so good. So clean and satisfying. Excellent chord progressions and mixing, this is a lovely listen heart

Agreed with other comments, acoustic is clean and sharp, electric is just cheesy enough to be very satisfying.

Thanks! Glad you liked it. I tried something new and scary with the acoustic guitar -- I printed the EQ/compression as I recorded, before it came into my DAW. So whatever I had at that point, I was stuck with.

Thanks much! PT-sounding is a high compliment.

Thank you much! I was going for that searing lead tone, while trying to minimize any excess harsh sounding tones you get from overdriving amps.

Excellent chord progression, such a nice clear recording of the acoustics.  Are those two acoustics hard panned?

Please explain the title to me!

Sorry I'm so behind!

People keep recommending PT to me!  I think I bought a musical instrument online and the person even burned me a PT CD that I have somewhere.

Hey man! acoustics are soft panned during the acoustic-only parts, then single acoustic down the center while there are electric bits. Title is because my best bro, theaeon, moved to chicago last week, and chicago led me to shikaka: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thlrP8_lk-Y. You're outta here! I try not to take my titles too seriously.

And yeah, definitely check out PT! This is one of their softer songs, and one of my faves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N_T1Ih-RH8

Some of the things about PT that really speak to me: The drummer has an incredibly sensitive touch, and always plays creatively and tastefully; their keyboard player adds great atmosphere, but never overdoes it; they make complex and interesting songs that don't sound like technical wankery. I could go on. Check them out!

the acoustic is so pretty with that electric tone - the panning is so perfect

Its like a happy version of the music from Silent Hill 2 and I'm here for it. The production is so crisp. That subtle doubling fading in at the end was lovely too

Both of the guitars sound really great, they compliment each other really nicely. Feel like this is a tune that could also really well with a vocal part. smile
