The Skull Throne

This week feels surreal to me. I've been wanting to and chasing the sounds I made this week since I started this pursuit. I am beyond thrilled with the results.
This was all in Ableton done on my 7 string in drop G#, rhythm done on the neck pickup, lead on the bridge, bass parts were on my wife's gretsch short scale bass and the drums are the Urgitone plugin.
It requires a little bit of tweaking before it reaches its album release form, but I am super proud of how it turned out.

I almost never keep track of what I used on what but I want to change that. Guitar tone was Fishman Fluence Modern pickups into my Katana MK2 on the Crunch model (modeled after a Fender Bassman) set at mid gain with a Rat pedal, also at mid gain, into an octave pedal placed before the preamp. Of all the playing around I've done with the katana, the crunch channel and a pedal in front of it is the juiciest tones for doom and metal, it really seems to handle the low frequencies better. For the rhythm I EQ in a little more bass and lower the treble and middle a little bit, for the leads I do the opposite so they clash a little less especially considering its the same guitar doing both parts. The reverb was added in Abelton and it is the trusty Valhalla Supermassive.
Bass which is a double humbucker short scale bass, was recorded into my Katana again on the clean channel which I believe is modeled after a Jazz Chorus. I initially tried the bass section on my Squier Jazz bass but it really needed a setup and was just too big and too difficult for my guitar hands.
Drums are the Urgitone Modern Doom kit which have one of the worst interfaces I've ever had to deal with but sound fantastic. I took a while trying to get a solid grove going with them and I'm actually really happy with how the drum parts turned out (though I nitpick the drop and slow sections drums every time I listen)
