Bringer of Value

By alonemusic on June 28, 2026 6:28 pm

This was an utter monster to mix. Far too many things going on and far too many tracks of stuff.. I could probably spend another week just teasing out parts. Even between this sentence and the last one I went back and tweaked a few things...

Anyway.. its been far too hot this week.. so I thought I'd try something a little different, mostly so I didn't have to stay in the 'studio' (bedroom) too long as it was the hottest room in my flat.. I used the ebow I picked up to be a sort of bed of noise and whines, then built more of those over the top for a few minutes, with some synths and such too, then went back and started working over the top, building new parts until.. well.. its ended up like most of my tracks, but at least it had a different start big_smile I defo wanted to bring a bit of the krautrock/motorik beat to the track as I've been listening to a lot of Neu in the car to work.

Anywho. Wow.. officially half way! I'm off to see Backrooms and get some fresh air before the whole 'second half of the year' starts up..

Wow, what an experience! The wall of sound crashing over me around 2:27 and again at 4:15, and yet it feels kinda tender, warm. A true avalanche of color.
Super interesting instrumentation, too - as someone not too familiar with Krautrock, I find the mix of rock band elements with synths really refreshing. Thanks for the mellow, chill end, too. This really took me somewhere and peacefully, gently let me wash back to the shore again.

Ooh! This is neat!!

I like this kind of stuff. I very much appreciate music that takes you on a journey. And that takes it time to get there, while being interesting the whole time. And you're nailing that! Though I think the tune could have been longer. The first section with the drums in full force could easily have been extended to twice its size. And the very last bit of the outro feels slightly rushed to me. Nonetheless, this is a nicely dramatic, ride. going big and small. Very cool! More please!!

If you'll permit me, here is some feedback on the mix. Let me preface it with saying that mixing this kind of stuff is super hard. And overall you've done a fine job on it. But I have some observations.

There is a ton of low end in this mix. But it isn't really having much of an impact. It makes the mix feel fat & flabby more than thick and phat, if you know what I mean?

Around 2:30 when the drums kick in, I think that section should hit like a ton of bricks. And it gets louder and fuller, but it's not hitting as hard as I think you want it to. I feel you need some more punch in the lower mids.

And the 2nd time the big wall of sound appears I feel the drums are buried a tad to much. They're really cool and have a good sound to them. And I think if you bring them forward a bit. Give them to opportunity to really roll, sonically. That section would have so much impact. But as it stands, I feel it falls a bit flat as it's loud, but lacks punch. Despite it being an awesome and intense piece of music there. Like, that's a very well written part there. And again, I think this section could have been longer, too. It's obvious to me that you have the chops to make that work.

All these notes on your mix are just my opinion, of course. So feel free to do with them what you want. Including completely ignoring them. Just thought I'd share them with you.

To conclude, Great job! Very, very well done!! I'm going to listen to your track for a 4th time now.

Ps. Do you know the Australian band SleepMakesWaves? Judging by your track they may be right up your alley.

It is you, you are the bringer of value to everyone's life.

Honestly, the drums are fine, other things need time to shine for once. That's the guitar gang spirit

Great orchestration, cool layers, very nice!

Again, I quite like the cover art!

love the beat that drives it forward from the beginning, and the melodies that kick in at 2:26.
