Bass Practice #1

By zpeisman on March 10, 2024 11:54 pm

Got a shortscale bass this weekend, so ended up recording something with that. It was much easier (and thus more inspiring) to play than the fullscale I got years ago and swiftly hung on the wall never to be taken down again.

Observation: with a bass guitar you actually feel the bass through your body while you play. With a synth.. you feel the plastic of the keys on your finger tips.

bass: fender mustang
guitar: godin session (comp, lead A: minifooger drive + small fry; lead B: small fry + germanium pi)
lazy drummer: d-110 tracked by m8

Really nice bass tone! Uncle Cool approves of this track. Could have used more cowbell though!

Thank you, I’m a big Uncle Cool fan! The bass tone was straight DI then a little compression, so that’s a relief. More cowbell will happen in the future I’m sure, I like the klonk of that particular one.

Nice distortion that germanium unit!  Nice jam.  Solid bass.

Thank you! The Germanium Pi knows how to cut through.
