Mother

Hi again!

This week was a tough one! I lost my mother to cancer one day before my birthday. It hit me hard and I really didn't feel I'd have it in me to do a WB, but because I spent the last few days at my parents, I took the opportunity to sit down by their old (out-of-tune) piano and sketch a few ideas.
I was just playing piano to cope with everything that was happening, so I didn't spend much time thinking about arrangement or production. I recorded a few ideas on my iphone and that was it (you can even hear children in the background).

This is one of those ideas, which I intend to revisit and have it properly recorded on a tuned piano.

All recorded on an iphone and "mastered" in Ableton Live.

Much love to everyone!

See you next week.

I'm sorry to hear the story behind this, the track is beautiful

I love the sound of slightly out of tune pianos and I feel it really adds to the melancholy of the track

The courage to create during such a difficult time is admirable. Sounds raw and heartfelt, this composition is a poignant tribute. Sorry for your loss. heart

My condolences, Xavier. The raw feeling is there, and the additional ambience makes this a slice of life. Thank you for sharing in this terribly hard moment of your life.

So sorry to hear about your Mother. I’m glad you found an escape through the piano. The kids in the background, piano out of tune, it’s perfect. It really paints a picture of a family coming together to support each other in difficult times. Thinking of you and your family ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for sharing

Sorry about your Mom. The track is beautiful, as is the piano. Hugs & healing to you & your family.

Hope you're doing better now, and have a happy birthday still, maybe not today, but at some point
We got a song for when you feel better, on week 6
Out of tune pianos really feel like they're grieving with you

thank you for sharing this with us  heart

my heart truly goes out to you. I can't imagine the pain of losing a parent.
there's something wildly authentic about an out of tune piano recorded on a phone. I love the progression as well

Losing a parent is hard. I've unfortunately had this experience too. It's confusing for a while but it gets better. Wish you the best navigating this difficult expereince.

It's a nice piece all things considered and there is a lot of captured in it. Sounds perfect to me.

Thank you all for your support!
