yorb?

hehe haha

-------------------------------------

this is op-1f, tp-7, and CBA lossy .  just some stretches to warm up for the year.  i'm not gonna peter out like last time.

started with one of my early op-1f loops (got it on the big name-your-price deal last year).  the op-1f feels so nice, excellent build quality and so many lil quality of life changes (in addition to the higher fi stereo sound).  the latest firmware update fixes some graphical bugs i told them about in the dsynth/dbox screens.

op-1f loop resampled into the drum sampler, then pitched up an octave, then used the op1 sampler timestretch trick (@ me on discord if u want me to explain) to adjust the tempo some to what i wanted this week's tune to be.

looped that through Lossy into the TP-7 , just random knob twiddling for like 10min.  then I listened back, dropping cue points at places of interest (really nice new tp7 feature).

i also did some piano noodling, also recorded into a lil TP-7 sesh, of some harmony stuff based on the root loop.

then I started the OP-1 jam.  first thing was the snare, just layered a few internal hits and added some envelope-following Terminal crush.  the bass drum is an 808-style hit run through the new fazer effect that fattens it up nicely.  on the og-1, i used to use CWO pretty often to transform hihats (like making new samples on the fly).  fazer can do similar for mid/low-end too.

along the way i sprinkled the lossy tp-7 sesh into the drum sampler, and also the tape directly sometimes.  v fun.

i was looking forward to the switchup (wacky modulation) but i lost momentum.  the electric-guitar-like sound was fun.  the bass was v hard to dial in.  not a sweet spot of the op-1.

then just speedtrash intro to hurt your ears.

The sound design in here is AMAZING.  That little lead that comes in around 1:40 and then starts the transition around 2:00... what a start to the year.

YAMMY! i had to download it

What a ride! This is so gooooooood.

intro goes hard XD

Yes! More Wangus in 2026! When the groove kicks in at around 1:00 it just sounds like you in a way noone could replicate.

Cool opener track. Awesome crunchy beats and wubby chords.

Got into your older work late last year after listening to your Chasing The Beats episode. Very excited to follow your new releases as they come out!

Looking forward to another year of Wangus tracks.

I'm yorbing so hard right now.

Waaaaaangus welcome back! I love the shit out of Lossy and use it in live sets but your extreme use thereof is absolutely making me look at the little pink box thinking “you been getting off easy.”

Wangus melodies magic aside, love that rimshot plonk. Welcome back let’s make 2026 go nuts.

The intro was full of such crazy (and awesome) sounds that by the time the (still kind of crazy) main groove hit, it felt like an unexpected but blissful relief (even though I dug the crazy intro).

Kinda obsessed with this. Love the lossy piano line. Yorb up

Damn, this was reminding me a lot of Matmos in terms of the drum palette, then that final turn was so dope. Also a little flatulence never hurt anyone.

Liked all three sections, especially the last - would love a longer take of that part haha! Cheers

Ahah awesome! Great sounds incl that frikkin metronome!!! And the little tiny melodies, and great groove
OMG THE ENDING best track ever

Oh wow that intro sounds like robots waking up. The twitchy percussion and random activity is so much fun, and I love that BIP that keeps my brain anchored in the middle of the insanity. When everything smooths out at 2:08 I was ready for a whole new ride...but the song ended! AIGH!

you say yorb?  but then you say hehe haha.

i ask you:

hehe?

haha, yorb!

heart heart heart

i really thought the intro was the entirety of the track, and i certainly would have enjoyed it, but you melted my face with the rest of it!  A++++ as usual

WANG ME GENTLY
WANGIT
WANGUS

and then of course
#fartending

[omg the classic last second blip from the record feature]
