fuck me up with the facegrinder 9000

a relatively young and healthy human body can recover from a lot
but going through it you don't necessarily know how its affecting you at the time
we're really good at memory holing stuff like that when shit gets really dark
some parts of those experiences are like new open wounds that won't close
especially if you did it to heal from something else

anyway thinking about surgical trauma and how psychological recovery can take a lot longer than physical recovery.
I'm only just now reaching a point where I feel like I'm healthier than when I went in. Sometimes I feel like I'm only now just piecing together what even happened last year.

This was a fun track to write, dipping my toe into using the FM synth which I ignore too much, and playing around with the new shimmer reverb cranked to eleven. Big big sounds and unusually for a WB, managed to find some time to refine the mix / drops (levels are still smashed to oblivion but that's just how I roll)...

Really really happy with the second drop which ties together a few different ideas I've been toying with lately and is very intense.

v cool, love how it evolves so chaotically

This is so sick, love the FM!

this was cathartic and bumping smile amazing work on this one!

I've been toiling away with the facegrinder 8000 all this time.
This is so good.
The M8s FM synth is so cool but I've only scratched the surface of how it works through fumbling.

wow! the buildup is so great. so raw but so well done.

I was sensing some discomfort and then the arp came in and washed it away.

This is crazy good

Loving the composition, the build up, the drops, the sound design. Awesome job

So many crunchy ideas and awesome synth work.
Hits such a high too, the progression through is amazing, love it

Scary sounds! Thanks for the inspiration. Will use FM-generated screams in the future. in  Great stuff!

It's quite powerful when combined with the envelope/table possbilities and I too need to spend more time digging into it.. this one is really just only barely testing the water for me as I usually just ignore it in favour of the other onboard synths

Haha I wish I had that level of mastery but this is just a vocal sample from the old amiga sample disks absolutely crushed to hell hehehe

Trying to mess around with formant stuff and screams etc would be an interesting sound design challenge though for sure.

I feel like I'm playing hotline miami grinding for the last achievement. What a journey this track is.

Daaaamn, this is so coooollll!!! Shit, I really need to work on my (currently non-existent) fm skills, because this rules!
Did you build up a trove of cool fm sounds beforehand and then make this song when you felt you had enough, or did you kind of build things from scratch for this song specifically?
The melodies you hit in the second hand of the song are so damn good!
Very, very cool.

Holy shit that bitcrushed scream scared the hell out of me the first time.
Lovely work on the rising and falling tension throughout the song. Synths are growling and dirty, nasty in a very good way. That last part with the high lead after the DJF buildup feels huge. Slick work!

Damn that's horrifying. And totally accurate. Psychological damage is torment.

There are some tracks on here that you have to listen to, just on account of their names.  This one is great, especially once its firing on all cylinders.  Strong use of the shimmer verb, especially in the intro and outro

very cool movements and breaks and sounds! impressive!

this was one of my favs from the live listening party. great soundscape and arrangement.

Big big tune. Carpenter synth-keys run through synthwave thumping and straight into crushed screams. The shimmer makes huge washes over menacing bass. And the high-passed rattlesnare synth line into the gothic outro lead is gorgeous. It's dark, absolutely. But with the Linndrum-y drums, the bounce in the keys riff, and square arps, there's joy in the dark.

This is awesome.

Yes name is lit also I feel you really expressed your topic through chip tune which I personally find super challenging. Was a joy to listen to! So much props
