Riders of the Desolate Wasteland

By ViridianLoom on March 6, 2022 10:30 pm

Probably the fastest song I've written. Just a little mood piece with a guitar solo, wrote it this morning and finished it in about 3 hours. Came up with the chord progression almost immediately which is really nice when it happens. Guitar solo was done in about 3 takes and then comped because I'm lazy (but one take in particular was done pretty well most of the way so didn't have to do much comping).

Not much more to say about this one I suppose. Happy with the overall outcome with the limited amount of time put into it, which allows me to enjoy the rest of my weekend without stressing about a song smile

Gorgeous chord progression. And guitar tone. And synths. The whole thing has a sort of wistful character that I really appreciate. heart

Howdy partner. Great vibe. I like the tambourine, and I really like when the drums kick in. My favorite moment of the solo is at 2:59 when the unexpected triplets start on 2. Very interesting placement, and it is so satisfying when it lands on the 1. Tipping my cowboy hat to you!

awesome playing and gorgeous tones heart

I always like your guitars and this track is no exception.

masterfully played the guitar all along those beautiful chord progressions. enjoyed this track a lot.

The simple melodic guitar lines are tasty and have an AWESOME tone. Just the right amount of reverb, super clean and with the dynamic of authoritative playing. This is really nicely done. Playing slow clean tone is sometimes the hardest, as there is no place to hide. Also very tasty choice of notes, like around 2:24 - bringing an exotic vibe, quasi melodic minor. That was a really nice trip.

what is that first chord?  the whole progression is epic.  downloading.

beautiful solo.  no shame in comping. (that's how i survive)

Thank you smile. It's a C# major chord. This whole song is actually in C# standard so just fret what would normally be a E major.

Here be all the chords (x's just mean no note is played on that string)

First Progression:
0-2-2-1-0-0 (C#maj)
x-3-5-4-5-0 (Amaj7)
x-2-4-2-3-2 (G#m7)
x-3-5-4-5-0 (Amaj7)
1-3-3-2-0-0 (Dmaj11 I think)

Second Progression when drums come in and the cows come home:
0-2-2-1-0-0 (C#maj)
5-7-7-6-x-x (F#maj)
3-5-5-7-x-x (Emaj)
1-3-3-2-x-x (Dmaj)

The only other variation in here is 2:20 just goes back and forth from Cmaj to Cm for a few bars before going back to the second progression

C# tuning!

:mind blown:

I actually wanted to ask for the chords but was scared smile

So sweet had to jam this twice smile
