Respite in Ruins

By ViridianLoom on February 16, 2020 6:18 pm

For this week I wanted to keep things kind of simple. Even though I had a 3 day weekend and could of used that time to work extra hard on a song, I didn't tongue. Instead, I chose to spend that time with my girlfriend, watch season 4 of Better Call Saul, and play Ace Attorney.

So thought process going into this song:
    • Nice and simple structure. Limit it to just a few instruments, no percussion.
    • Use a pretty plain sine wave for the primary melody. I only added reverb to give it some shimmer.
    • Relaxing vibe

I mean, some of the chord choices go a little dark and add tension but I got down what I set out to do.

Very fitting title. Really nice melodies and chord progression. The tone definitely shifts to a bit darker towards the end, but it's still incredibly relaxing all the way through. Nice work

You nailed the points, very relaxing. The dark chords are fine, they tie in with the title well.

Mysterious yet relaxing. Cool vibes here!

The respite part of the song is great!
What chapter are you on in Ace Attorney?

This song totally sounds like what plays when you wander off the Pizzaville map!

Tones and chords were well chosen. They meld perfectly.

Would work so nice as a film score smile

Hey, nothing wrong with taking time to catch your breath - R&R is important too!  This track turned out magically by the way.

Very mystical, flits between euphoria, noir and nostalgia. Great tune here.

lovely piece!

Interesting and unpredictable chord development
