So, last week's song and this one are supposed to be kind of a part of the same idea. This would be part 1 of 3 and Sodden Vale is part 3 of 3, meaning there's a center part which still isn't done.

Yeah, it's a long ass song, probably going to end up being like 15 minutes long whenever I get around to finishing part the second. I want all three parts to include some drums too but I've been struggling with the sound design. Like, imagine if I were to play this material in a small venue and it's supposed to sound intimate, I probably don't want percussion that smacks or is super loud. It would probably be something closer to jazz style drums with brushes or something. That's also the problem I ran into with this week's tune. I planned on including the middle part but I found myself running out of time and felt like I needed to continue to experiment.

Oh, and I forgot to mention it on last week's song, but that one and this one are both in D#-G#-D#-G-B-D# tuning. It's spicy. That opening strum in this tune is all the open strings.

One dark hell of an open strum tuning. "Tuning check, did I shatter the nearby pillar of Erebus?"

This is the sound of the year 711 on the Iberian peninsula. The next 780 years will be rough. Brilliant stuff.

Very beautiful playing. I like how one of the guitars has a crystalline sound and the other has this more bassy-midrange, they complement each other without stepping on each other's toes. Beautiful track!

Oh man, the instant vibe here... like I'm not sure if I'm listening to amazing reverby or wind blowing through a massive cavern... and I LOVE it.  It might partly be this cold snap, but this has very The Long Dark vibes for me. OHHHHH MAN... just got to the end, when the two guitars line up...

... just such great work.

goooood lawd that opening heart did i just tip my hat and brandish my weapon? the music says 'yais you did'. guitar sounds so good.. that chord on 2:03 oof hits.  the mournful solo atop everything so soothing. love how it ends with a "to be continued..." feel.  well done!

Crazy the scene you set with those synth pads/swells. So good

This is right up my alley. Beautiful. Looking forward to part 2!

really beautiful vibe, feels almost like damnation era opeth or something in some ways it's fantastic heart the harmony is incredible!

this is also the most prog sentence ever spoken

this reverb/pads are dong so much work, this is great. Guitar is phenomenal.
a very mournful contemplative interlude on my journey
stellar sound design

also picking up on the opeth vibes toward the end and this is a good thing

That background pad adds so much weight-ambiance. I love your playing, you are a beast on the guitar (or bass) and the new acoustic guitar sounds awesome. (Transition from this part to Sodden Vale is super smooth as well.

Bravo!

Always in awe of your ability to strike up hauntingly beautiful moods like this. Reminds me of the RE save room vibe where the soundtrack feels like it's letting out a sigh of relief right along with the player. Is save-wave a genre? Either way, you've got it down! wink

Superb sound design and performance! It feels like a profound and timeless story that takes its time and tells itself.

Feels like a deserted western place. Drums would definitely liven up the place, but maybe there're things here that shouldn't be disturbed.

the saga continues (thankfully!)!
that is a WILD tuning.
Marty McFly: "this one is 15 minutes long and is in D#-G#-D#-G-B-D# tuning. follow me for the changes, and uh... try to keep up"  big_smile

really delicate and expressive playing

Really beautiful. I like the variety of melodic ideas in here. Also the  whole vibe of the piece is really nice. I like the bell like swirly sounds behind the guitars.

That spanish guitar motif at the beginning builds an expectation of large empty spaces. Could be a desert, could be a tundra, could be ruins. Good choice for a "part 1", definitely builds a scene.

This is so cool and atmospheric. Stoked for part II when it's ready to arrive!
