A Stunning Display of Boisterous Brass

By ViridianLoom on September 8, 2024 11:35 pm

Here's a fun and goofy little track this week. Basically just tried to let loose and make something that is not-at-all the kind of music I'm striving to make in an attempt to smash the reset button in my mind. I'm running out of time and (surprise, surprise) I'm recovering from a migraine again, so I'm blindly uploading and hoping I didn't miss anything that needed to be fixed. I mean shit, ya'll probably wouldn't know anyways because I was a bit heavy handed with the layering and counterpoint in this song, haha.

It was pretty fun just throwing a bunch of ideas at the wall here because I kind of stumbled into some ideas that might enhance some other tunes I'm working on. I'm just mainly struggling with getting the general sound down for the songs I want to take more seriously (Like balancing the bass and guitar in a way that sounds pleasing to my ears).

It is indeed a fun track whose first section sounds very different from your usual tracks. The joyful brass sounds like straight from a RPG. The break around 2:00 is closer to what your tracks are usually like. I hope your migraines go better!

this is such a fun listen. it's very impressive & speaks to your skills that you are able to jump around with these odd time signatures and still drop a track that GROOVES and feels natural. a lot of times odd time sigs just make me feel tired like i'm listening to equations that are complicated for the sake of being complicated. this is great. oh, and the mix balance feels really nice to my ears. cheers!

Whoa - what a different and cool sound! The synth brass is so playful. Nice work!

And I hear you on the challenge of getting a song you care so much about up to your standards. Looking forward to hearing those when they’re ready. wink

Ha, I also went with a non-typical time signature this week. But nothing close to what you did! Your track's like early 1990s fusion jazz, sort of a Dave Weckl feel there. The guitar at the end is chef's kiss!
