You Are Gone

My attempt at orchestral pop, with an instrumental for now and potential for vocals to be added later. Not a genre I’m super familiar nor confident with, but I think this came out alright. Hope you enjoy listening

I developed this song with the following two challenges:
1) A prompt from Andrew Huang’s website (https://exercises.andrewhuang.com): “Try creating a piece that leaves as much open space as possible. How sparse can you make it while keeping the music compelling?” I ended up not following this 100% as I pursued a fuller orchestral sound, but the prompt definitely helped me land on the overall vibe and be more intentional with the sparser sections of the song.
2) Use only Spitfire LABS and stock DAW FX (I use Bitwig). I recently watched one of Andrew Huang’s “4 Producers, 1 Sample” videos, in which Christian Henson (founder of Spitfire Audio) put together a track using almost exclusively Spitfire LABS and stock DAW FX. Being inspired, I used this as an opportunity for me to dive deeper into this amazing set of free virtual instruments. I’ve used Spitfire LABS here and there throughout my music, but even with this track, I feel like I’ve scratched the surface of what Spitfire LABS offers (over 60 packs, most of which contain multiple presets).
