Static Bloom

Another week, another song recorded in Open C Tuning!
Really happy with this one - very Pop song writing approach, even down to the I-V-vi-VI progression, but I think there is enough stuff going on to set it aside from just another song in that often used chord pattern.
Lyrics have been around for a while, but until this week, it lived as a simple chords, lyrics and melody piece, to which I have added to over the past few evenings.
trying a thing with doubling drum kits/samples to get a beefy tone... I think I like it.
As always, thanks for listening, and I hope you have a good week!
Lyrics:
You said I talk like a landslide
Quiet, but always breaking things
I held your name like a fault line
Couldn’t SAY it without trembling
You watched me trip through the kitchen light
Paper cut smile, trying to get it right
I was reaching for the version of me
You remembered, not the one I might be
And I keep growing out of who I used to be
Like static bloom on a dying screen
If you’re still watching me fade,
Does it mean anything?
I’m not who I was,
But I don’t know what that means
You moved like code through the hallway
Every step another disappearing act
I tried to map all your always
But your “forever” never circled back
You spoke in lowercase goodbyes
I answered in glances and quiet lies
rewind to the part we liked
But we blurred it out with pixel light
And I keep growing out of who I used to be
Like static bloom on a dying screen
If I echo in your sleep,
Does it feel anything?
I’m not who I was,
But I still haunt those dreams
It’s all just distance now
In neon quiet
But I trace the outline
Of where we tried it
We left our names
In the old machine
But it only plays
What we used to mean
And I keep growing out of who I used to be
Like static bloom on a dying screen
If you remember me wrong,
Is that still memory?
I’m not who I was,
But there’s still a part that’s me
