Morning Gory

By Tweaklab on April 8, 2018 11:37 pm

Just a quick little jam on the 8-String this week as I felt it was getting a bit neglected lately.

I had fun programming the earlier drums in the track but then as time restraints came into play they get more and more basic and repetitive lol

hell yea!  glad to see some djent on WB. drums sound great with the 8 string

Dang you make me want to get an 8 string.  Do you have any advice on how to get this djent sound with a traditional 6 string?  I'd like to do some Deftones-type stuff in the near future.

Haha it's a-lot of fun, to be honest, you really just need thick enough gauge strings because this whole tune was played on the 7th string, and even bands like Slipknot still use 6 strings I found out. It's just the gauge of the strings. If it's any help the 7th string is tuned to A, but even having said that if you listen to artists / bands like Brendon Small (Metalocalypse/Galaktikon) and Alestorm they all use 6 strings but tuned to C Standard and get a real nice beefy tone, I have a 6 string with D Standard gauge strings and that tunes down to C Standard quite comfortably (they were the thickest strings the local guitar shop stocked hahaha) and Celldweller uses B# tuning and gets that nice djenty style tone also. Long answer sorry but it's also something I've been looking into recently. If I could do it all again, I'd honestly get a 7-String.

I think you're doing sex wrong somehow.
