We Can Find Peace

Before you do anything!

For your listening pleasure we at da weeklybeats ask that you
please visit https://weeklybeats.com/jwh
to listen to his week 52 song, "Every Continuation".
I contributed a bit of pianer, rhodes and a bit of the vocal cord. There are other contributions there but I don't want to spoil the surprise for those that haven't heard it yet smile

I spent most of my productive week working on "Every Continuation" because apparently I was cocky enough to think "meyaaahh i'll just noodle something out when we're done"....
Silly ginger.
Since I was having trouble starting completely new and had most of the vocal hooks stuck in my tiny noggin.  I decided to focus on one of my fav parts and create sort of an ambient homage to the original.  I also went a bit outside of my comfort zone and recorded more vocals to go with the new chords I added.  To hide from errrbody I used a phone effect for my voice.  Ironically it was recorded via my iphone but I digest...
This year has been absolutely friggin amazing as far as this website goes.
Never-mind the outside world.  The earth might melt or explode at some point but dang it has it been so therapeutic to be a member of this musical community.  Sometimes my own anxiety gets the best of me but this website always finds a way to remind me things aren't so bad and that actually it can be pretty damn good!

I apologize I haven't slept much in the past 48hrs.  No complaints whatsoever.  In fact I would have worked another day on this if I was allowed (shhh).  Sometimes when I'm so inspired it feels like all I need is the sound.  Not air.  Not water.  Music. (but mayhaps some sleep.)

It's been so fun getting to know all the new people here.  Getting to work on a couple of collabs.  Feeling seen and just good ol wholesome happy feels from your music and kind comments.
I will miss you.  See you soon heart

good peaceful song to end the year with, respect.

I'm not sure I have the right words but this is both a wonderful song and equally wonderful closing track for the year.  I appreciate the heads up to listen to the collab first, the context was important - I LOVED how you, for lack of a better word, deconstructed the original track down to a whisper.  I've listened to it a number of times now, your choice of what to remove and when is brilliantly thought out and applied.  A great remix...demix...you know what I mean.

i'm so glad you continued in this mode for your song this week, this was so moving to hear.
THANK YOU for your music, your kindness, and your friendship! i'm so glad we were able to collaborate this year.
now to figure out what to do with all these songs...

Another great collaboration orchestrated by JWH this week.  I listened on his page first, this rework is fantastic, like how you transformed it in the intro from the original into this ambient piece.  I’ve always been a fan of singles and 12 inch records as they will have the experimental/interesting remixes on the b-side, this is one of those gems.

Thanks for all your music this year and letting us into your world, wishing you all the best, have enjoyed your music for many years now, will see you back in 2026!

Wow. Just came from "Every Continuation" and it's like the track took a hauntingly beautiful turn as it "finds peace" wink with the things that trouble it in the back of its mind.

This is kind of a perfect example of why I'm a big fan of your style - you have a knack for tapping into some pretty deep and resonant emotional spaces with a soft but effective touch. Super cool stuff, both here and all throughout the year.

Hope you have a happy new year. Can't wait to hear what's next! big_smile

What a wonderful message.

Sometime, for a little moment I can find peace... I wish it was easy to keep this mindset on for long stretches.

I wish you a healty 2025, beautiful piano sessions and all you wish!

Take care!

Also came here based on Joshua's recommendation. Was not disappointed.

This is like "Andvari" following "Gong" on Sigur Rós' "takk...". A reverberation of the action with its own wistful mood. A nice quiet way to end the year!

Damn, I get Radiohead vibes from this which is huge. Lovely vocals and chords going on. Happy new year!!!

Beautiful. Gonna echo rplktr's Sigur Rós comparisons, and maybe just a taste of M83, which places this firmly in one of my favourite intersections of music and mood ... just beautiful.

I'm flattered I, in part, inspired you to try some vocals - and yeah, quiet! but whispered, and still present and a little alluring and magical, I liked them quite a bit, and enjoyed playing it back and pumping the volume to hear the words ... quiet but still there and still mysterious.

I am an absolute advocate of processing vocals, of transforming them, of changing them with purpose and intent. For some weird reason we seem to enshrine vocals as "pure" within music with our derision of processing and auto-tune and all that nonsense ... you'd rarely criticize someone for filtering a synth or adding reverb, guitar without an amp and pedals generally sounds ridiculous, etc... so yeah, transform your vocals. Make them sound like a phone or a radio or a (hahaha) transmission in deep space. Make them fit the song, the mood, shape them like you would any instrument.

I've finally gotten to a place where I can edit my vocals before doing the processing, but I'd usually have to add enough reverb and effects to make my voice "less recognizable" before I could listen to it for hours while editing. The magic moment for me is when my voice does become unrecognizable - it sounds like someone else - and with these dialogue pieces I did, that was really the transformative element. I wasn't talking anymore, someone was talking to me.

I digress. The point - keep at it. You don't have to be a concert vocalist to record your own singing. And as a fellow bedroom musician (okay, I have two bedroom studios now), we have TONS of tools to make our vocals sound like anything we want, so go for it!

I talked a lot about vocals I'm sorry lol. This was a first year for a lot of musicians here doing vocals, myself included. I just wanna encourage ya smile

It's been awesome listening to your music this year, I am forever in awe of your piano noodling, those Reznor-vibes sing close to my heart and always give me goosebumps. Looking forward to hearing what you make in 2025! Thanks for the music heart heart heart

Ooooohhhhhh reeeeally nicely done here, my friend! I really like this "take" on your other piece with jwh, so cool!!! Very airy and spacey, really dope.

It's been awesome to share this space with you, dude. You're always super upbeat and your music is always interesting & fun! And your longer posts make me feel more comfortable with my typically essay-long posts as well, hahahahaha... So thank you for that! And thanks for being such an active member here, listening and commenting on so much stuff. This community is what it is because of folks like you heart

Wishing you a wonderful 2025!!!!

Lovely piece of peace. I feel hopeful we can find peace, yes! Another one, like so many of yours, where I want to close my eyes and just sway, float and enjoy the moment. Love that you did some vocals! I'll go listen to the jwh one next, love your collabs.
I 100% relate to your statements above about this has been a great place to be in 2024. While the world can be  a downer, WB land is for sure an upper. I will miss it, and will miss your wonderful music each week. I'll be looking out for a Bandcamp release of your hopefully. And maybe will see you out there on the interwebs somewhere.
Thanks for all your music, sharing your thoughts, and supportive comments all year! Wishing all the best in the new year!!

A really nice different angle on the jwh collab.  Sends us out on a peaceful note.  2024 was one of the worst years I've experienced overall, but WB was one of the few good things about it, so thank you for being part of it.  I'm pretty sure I've been listening to your noodles since 2014, so they definitely feel like a foundational part of WB to me.  I hope your experiences this year keep inspiring you to both do what you do best and also push your boundaries.  Yay for experimenting with vocals!  Best wishes for 2025 and hopefully I'll get to hear more from you in the near future and in 2026.

Beautiful intro that pulls us in and then opens up with the piano. The piano sounds so full and direct, I really like it. It feels like one is sitting next to the piano. I like that you featured vocals there.

It was a pleasure like every year to get a shot of your tracks every week. I'll be looking forward to hearing more of your production in 2026. In the meantime, I wish you a great 2025!

Listened to this after after the jwh song and immediately recognized it big_smile Lovely take, sounds like a breezy extended outro or remix. I agree that it's been a fantastic (although exhausting) experience with a lovely community. Of course, you and jwh stood out for me with the fantastic work on sifting big_smile. Have a happy new year and hope to see/hear you in the future!

Happy new year, maestro. This song is formidable. Such a relaxed and dreamy variation of this legendary All-Stars collaboration.
This year was spectacular and it was a steady up and down following your output every week. How tough you have been to continue with heart issues or migraines. Always loved the noodles, field recordings and electronic tracks. Always excellent music  you gave us. I loved the personal details in the background storys with funny typing modifications. Thank you for your constant comments on my tracks. I wish I can meet you again in 2026.

Love this darker, ambient take on Every Continuation - beautiful playing and overall sound you've crafted. Both songs are stellar and complement each other so well. Congrats on a successful WB '24! Really enjoyed following your music this year, wishing you a happy 2025 smile
