Edge of Equanimity

By Tone Matrix on December 8, 2024 4:19 pm

Hello there!  I'd like to apologize for being a bit slow in responding/listening in the recent weeks.  The end of the year and holidays always seem to slow me down mentally.  It's hard not to feel a little disappointment/anxiety because I'm barely working on anything during the week. Leaving the last day or two to smoosh out a chord or two before the deadline. Hopefully I'll find some inspiration in the remaining weeks.  Here's another ambient paddle that sorta just drifts for a bit.  Thank you for listening and stopping by.  I hope you are all doing well heart

whooooa what synth is that from the start? sounds soooo gooood! The layers keep adding on the and the 1/16th plucks. A great sonic journey.

somber at the start then has a nice tinge of hope that fades in. beautiful development and stunning synth selection. lovely work heart

This was a timeless beauty. The mood is calming and giving comfort. Very good and helpful.

A really wonderful space to float around in.  As it builds it really feels like air currents are holding us aloft and letting us soar.  And then a nice comedown at the end.

Sounding big smile

Been in the same boat inspiration-wise for the past few weeks. But you've created so much beautiful stuff this year by pushing through, if that's any help. Thanks for filling this year with wonderful tracks like this one (which I think might be one of my top three Tone Matrix tracks of the year already!). big_smile

"sorta just drifts for a bit"

WHATEVER tongue

this is gorgeous. i keep coming back to it. in some ways it feels like a sister song to 'Spiral waves...' which you know i also loved.

keep going, Friend heart

The little filtered beat and the arps coming in are a really nice surprise to the smooth pads, love the outro with the bright synth taking over.

This is great, just enough action to be engaging, just enough calm to drift away relaxed.

That intro directly pulled me into Vangelis territory. These synths that open widely extend through the horizon. There is a lot of nostalgia in them. And you have a good tasteful usage of arps - they don't overpower, they bring a sense of rhythm and a different type of texture but come to complement the large soundscape you're creating.

This track gave me goosebumps. Only 3 weeks left - will be missing your music in 2025.

Really beautiful. The warm synths are incredibly soothing but its that subtle percussive clicks and the miving rhythm of the background arp that really pull me along. Ending drop gave me the chills. I'd listen to a whole album of this on repeat, really wonderful heart

I'm really loving your recent more ambient leaning works.  This one in particular... just DEEPLY hypnotic.  When that arp comes in... it's like being in one of those time-lapse shots, where there's a person sitting somewhere, and like the world is moving around them super fast, but they are just this static central figure... So well arranged.  Loverly work.

oh wow this is glorious wiazrd - love it heart

hope you find some comfort and joy this winter season in your own special way

winter's shorter days can be so diorenting along with all the holiday fuss...

I had the exact same thought lol That and "smoosh out a chord or two" This is awesome! Such a huge build of energy, one of those tracks that just grabs you.

Love this song title. This is like setting out on a journey, then going forth into adventures. Great movement, sounds and mix and layering, huge. Sorry the season can be rough for you. I find this time of year a little challenging too. Up here in the PNW the loss of light, short days, going outside and moving less takes its toll. Nice to have songs like this drift into inner space with, so thank you for taking us along.
