Howdy! I apologize if this gets wordy. I used every day, hour and minute to work on this week's track. The idea started early Monday after hearing emily's week 4 track. Her track featured a crow but for me personally it conjured visions of a flock of starlings doing their murmuration thingy. So that led me to watch a ton of national geographic/youtube videos on murmurations. Like woah how cool. How they don't crash into each other because no one is the leader. They all just sort of flow around with the bird next to them and the bird next to them annnnd so on to evade predators and taxes.
So then I visited my favorite place to let my brain disappear.... freesound.org
I usually get super sidetracked on that website because of the sheer amount of samples, foley and field recordings available to use. For a good hour I was totally listening to all sorts of machine hums cuz I wanted to get that particular Reznor_using_his_washer_machine_sound (ala the Downward Spiral). Then I got back on track and listened to birds. Stumbled upon one from the user dommygee, https://freesound.org/people/dommygee/sounds/254983/ (i apologize if this doesn't get properly coded into a working link as I'm trying to process my tiny brain thoughts before the deadline in time and I melt down when tasked with BBCode stuff)
So that set the basis for this track. I threw it in an arpeggiator machine thingy I have where it will take different chunks of the sound file and based on the notes pressed will chuck out a random rhythm. Used a part that had a sort of repetitive motion to it and bob is indeed someone's uncle.
As you can tell the weekly deadline buzz definitely affects my writing lol.
The music itself is pretty much the same ballpark of instrumentation in previous weeks.
The piano went off the rails a bit as I accidentally was trying to double an octave on a segway to a change in the track. Well it sounded interesting.. then I fiddled with the INVERT button in Ableton's midi settings and went a lil wacky hitting some keys I don't think I ever have. Soooo that was fun.
Now the moral of this week's story.
I was watching a video on VENUS THEORY's youtube channel called The Introverted Musician's Guide to Being Alone". Without wasting too much more of your time, here's a quote from the video that really hit home with me and how it relates to the community of weeklybeats.

if you have an idea and you have something you want to say then it’s damn well worth doing
although at times isolation may be necessary to really get it out
the only way to truly understand your own ideas and what you have to say is to live some life
and gain a little bit of perspective and understand that it’s going to be your own
i guess it turns out it’s fun to have fun and connecting with people who inspire you is actually pretty damn inspiring
and suddenly being inspired you have a whole lot more to say.
it’s kind of funny how that works isn’t it.

Now obviously he was talking about actually getting out and meeting people. HA.... But what I took from it related more to being able to converse and bounce opinions, ideas and suggestions off each other here for the past ten years.
Sometimes I get so much anxiety I can't even open an email from someone. Yeesh I know.
But this website and the overall camaraderie that has always been present has always been so inspiring.
So whenever I say I've been on high inspiration lately it's thanks to this website and my WB frainds.
Ok I definitely am going to miss the deadline if i don't shut up.
Bai!
