Sweet Dreams

By Chrisfoo on February 4, 2024 11:55 pm

Disclaimer:  I am no Lil Wyte.  Thought of the line "sweet dreams benzodiazepines" yesterday and thought it was lovely, so I ran with it.

Another disclaimer:  Unmastered.  Pretty much unmixed.  Had the typical pre-deadline issue that 100% defies logic (no pun intended, actually) so I had to spend the last hour troubleshooting.

Oh also, this was a song I submitted in 2022 called Moving but the original lyrics, guitar and bass sucked, and I felt the vocaloid could do much better job on the vocals.

Lyrics:

Into:
Sweet dreams, Benzodiazepines
Tastes like sugar, sugar and cream

Verse 1:
Washing all of my cares away
No need to lose sleep, its gonna be okay
You seem wound up a bit too tight
You could be dreaming in waves of feeling alright

Chorus:
Sweet dreams, Benzodiazepines
Tastes like sugar, sugar and cream

Verse 2:
Melting into a better place
Where there's no worries or even memories
Is it too early hit the bars?
Just come paint the town with me, just hop in my car

Chorus (Cage, Depart From Me):
Sweet dreams, Benzodiazepines
Tastes like sugar, sugar and cream

Bridge:
There I was unconscious on the floor
This place I never knew departing from my I'm sure
Awaiting the hand of god knowing I stand to fall
I stared into the pitch black to no hand at all
When you grow tired of lying on the ground, people walking on you
I you get to your feet you struggle to stand, people you know withdraw their hands
And you don't know why
I know why

Outro:
Sweet dreams, Benzodiazepines
Tastes like sugar, sugar and cream

The sky-high vocals and leads! This is really catchy stuff. big_smile

Hey, cool vocal melody! Funky bass line. Nice!

This is extremely easy and enjoyable to get into. Vocal effects work really well for the tune and it the instrumental is excellent. Great trade off between the vocals, that guitar line, and that lead synth.

A sweeter draym would be you dueting someday with the vocaloid wink  Oooooh that guitar solo! *nods head in solidarity* The bassline is super groovy too and makes me wanna do the dancin_baby dance.  Oooh guitar solo number2!  Gotta love that mono_lead_outro too.  Nice work!

Love the tune, catchy! Great guitar work and tone. The bridge with laughing samples is a nice touch.

I find the vocals fun, but maybe a little too strident to my ears? Maybe just a little eq out those mids or turning it down a notch?

I feel that after a quick mix session this would be fine, I like the track anyways.

Love the bass and guitar riff! And the synths and vocals are very catchy
I enjoyed it

An epic song, makes addicted, like benzos do!!

The vocals threw me for a loop for a second when they first came in, but I was able to roll with them and they're actually pretty cool.  The track as a whole cooks.

I suppose the vocals are bumped at least. Maybe you can try layering the two versions.

That song is a jam. Very cool vocal work, and I love the funk the bass brings.

Thanks!  I wasn't sure if the vocals were a bit over the to.  Kinda threw the auto tune on last minute, good to hear it worked.

Haha, it's in the works!  I'm planning on redoing some of my old or unreleased stuff with vocaloid harmonies.

Glad you were feeling this one!

Yeah, I hear you on that, definitely very harsh.  I need to go back and polish quite a bit one this one.  Glad you liked it!

Thanks!  Yeah, auto tune was originally just on the delay track so I might revert it back to that.  It's definitely a bit much.

Yeah, good call.  I'll need to go back and tweak quite a bit on here so I will definitely play around with some layers/harmonies.

Thank you!  Yeah, the bass was a lot of fun on this one.

Super cool groove and general vibe! I really like the main drums and bass groove. I've been listening to a lot of japanese pop jazz type stuff that this reminds me of. Not sure what example to give but this playlist of mine has pretty much got it all in there https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3gbhGAG705U7SL1zawwIwH?si=47b59da6ac1645ae
I also like the panned synths and generally the production. These latest songs seem like a lot of effort, and they're paying off! nice work dude!
