Mourner's Promise

By Tone Matrix on September 4, 2022 4:24 pm

It was a slow week creatively for me.  Fingers weren't cooperating with the brain either.  Most of my ableton captures would start off good and then poof I'd miss a note or eleventy.  Lots of palm mashing on the keys was heard throughout the night.  I was hearing a bit more stuff for this but oh well mayhaps a melody to sketch out some more eventually.  Part of me wants to get away from the solo piano and capturing but another part is just fine with it staying the same.  Honestly I know when I try to do some epic multi-instrument beat driven track I have too many options and that tends to slow me down and create unnecessary anxiety.  When I just tell myself, "self, plunk some chords and keys on the pianer and see what happens..."  it's kinda been working at least as far as catching that creative spark.  I guess I'll attempt at least one epic track before the year is up.  I can't remember the last time I had a beat in my tracks lol.  Weeklynoodles4tw! tongue

your pianer playing carries such emotionally-charged and virtuosic weight, tis epic everytime heart

The process has to be enjoyable I believe and I'm a fan of improvised performances.  Quite satisfying as the performer and also efficient time wise!  smile

This performance is really nice.  Has a lovely structure to it.  Great stuff!

your solo piano is magnificent and precious emotional. I think that is your strength, but an epic oeuvre would be nice as well, coming up this year. this track really goes hand in hand with my mood actually. thanks.

I think you should follow your muse wherever it takes you.  If that means branching out into multi-instrumental epics I'm sure that would be cool, but you've been mining some serious gems just sitting at the piano and playing, too.  I'll take as many of these piano noodles as you want to give us.

I'm sorry it was hard to come up with it, but holy shit this sounded good in the end.

Intriguing thing happening, melodies discovered across the planes, anchored by a solid foundation

as soulful as a mourning dove

I love what you do with the piano, do what makes you feel good, however back in the weekly beats days you definitely had some banger beat driven tracks, if some of that comes out would love to also hear it again.

Your compositions are so full with solo piano. Not lacking anything in the beats department.  Lots of dynamics and variance in chord color and weight keeps things moving.

The melancholy in this piece is very strong. The simplicity of the instrumentation helps with that feeling.

I love the feeling of weight you're able to capture in these simpler pieces. That's something I look for in my writing that I still have trouble capturing, and hearing it like this sparks hope I still might find it. Keep it up. smile
