Battles for Everyone

By alonemusic on September 4, 2022 4:23 pm

This week was a tough one. Started several times, some ideas that just didn't go anywhere and really felt like the ideas were just stuff in my head. Sometimes its like that! I guess the important thing is, we keep going heart

There is still worth in trying, and completing things even if they don't go to plan.

Anyway! Busy week, hope you enjoy! The goal was something a little synthwavey, but more layered.

Art!:

Mmm, so good. It's got an ominous flavor to it, very spicy.

Intense drive and beat with some mystery in chord progressions.  Loving the syn drums fills and shiny arps!

Another fantastic track;  I'm sorry to hear the week was tough, but your skill at catchy and evocative chipwavevgbgm+++++ anthems clearly saw it through.  I love the way this track unfolds and keeps upping the ante.  Each section feels like we've reach a new accomplishment or realization and then it KEEPS DEVELOPING.  Will be coming back to this later for inspiration; definitely one fo this week's +favs.

Also another look at the "midivampire" after seeing it in the tags again.  Which voices in this mix were done with the MIDI vampire?

Thank you for the kind words!
So you might guess that the mix is a huge mess of tracks, I listened back and you can barely hear the MIDIVampire, it has quite a 'hissy' synth sound that I often use to fill out the more square NES that I use.. In this mix... you can barely hear it, It is backing up the sidechained chords that start at 00:45 ish, but as there are a couple of instruments playing the same thing, its pretty much non-exisitant!
It is doing the opening chord stabs of this track : https://weeklybeats.com/alonemusic/music/caught-in-our-perfect-skin (but with a ton of reverb/delay and I think a filter with an LFO).

Weekly Beats means I don't really spend that much time 'shaping' synth sounds, if I need something big, I just slap the 'more tracks!' button until I've over done it big_smile
