I'm Somewhere Else

By Tone Matrix on April 14, 2024 2:47 pm

This week's title almost gave this track a different meaning.  Ever been half asleep and try to stick your leg thru shorts? No? Good... Don't!  Cuz right as I was on my way to submit this week's track my sleep deprived self that yearned for coffee stumbled out of bed and shorts and totally slammed his noggin into one of those articulated handcrafted solid wood dresser corners.  The kind your grandparents had in the 50s that also could be used as a door barricade in a cartoon.  Thankfully I am okay. Sore and such but I did have a bit of a cinematic horror moment as I thought to myself "Oh good thing I didn't break my neck cuz it doesn't seem to hurt..... Oh blood is trickling down my face lookie there". A few gauze snips later I kinda look like the bandaged emoji so that's fun and festive for spring time.  But it does kinda stop ya for a sec and make ya think.  Sooo not only am I thankful for finishing a quasi-ambient-noodle-track but I'm thankful for first aid kits.  Also for not being an egg.  Hope you are gewd.  *Awkward polywaves!*

Yikes, that sounds frightening. Glad to hear you came out of it okay. Hope you've been feeling better since!
(Beautiful track, by the way!)

Ouch, glad you didn't seriously injure yourself and you're alright.
Also, and maybe it's because I just watched the Fallout show, but when the chord progression switches over to the piano it has me thinking of the Fallout: New Vegas theme haha. Lovely mellow piece though.

I like the portishead kind of dark ambience in this track. A beautiful voice would be the overkill. I praise first aid kits too.

Hurting yourself with gravity? Who would do that? big_smile

(narrator: RPLKTR would, many times.)

Glad you're okay. And a good track to boot! The muffled sound adds to the heavy atmosphere.

Falls are always scary.  Glad you're okay.  The vibe of the track feels a little solemn to me and almost ominous at times.  Not sure when you wrote it in relation to the fall, but I could see it either as a portent that it's coming or the sound of the aftermath.

I don't know about you but the recovery time as I age seems to be both exponential and inversely proportional with my coordination. Making the littlest things much more dangerous, glad you are okay as the beats must go on!

I agree with

Dang, hope your noggin is okay. Very nice atmospheric track this week!

Yup gotta be careful these days getting out of bed, everything creaks, takes a few moments to straighten out, glad it wasn't too serious.  I love tracks like this, beautiful ambience, the filtered low key drums, and then the piano to finish it off and keep things flowing.

Sorry about your injury! Hope you are feeling better. This is a really nice track. I like the rumbly resonant nature of it. Those muffled echoing drums in the background are really nice sounding. Really great piano melodies as well!

Yikes, I’m glad nothing serious happened… those kinds of injuries are sobering to be sure.
Regarding the piece, I love the atmosphere particularly the persistant drum… gives me kind of Disco Elysium vibes.

this has a really neat atmosphere

polywaves back
It's probably wise not to me with pants so early, either they're on, or they're off, and until you're awake, it's everyone else's problem.
Anyway, welcome back, I hope somewhere else was nice for a bit, you definitely brought some good tunes back with you.
