Bleak Blunder Blue

By Tone Matrix on February 25, 2018 7:32 pm

I really wasn't feeling productive or creative most of the week.  I wanted to try and do an improvised sort of jam but realized my caffeine induced hands lacked the dexterity.  Finished a basic version Saturday but decided to add in the last string part at the end. The clangy dishwasher in the background was recorded at an old job thru my phone.  The dreaded "oh no it's only week #" feeling has been lurking the past few weeks.  I'd like to finish the year but phew lately my brain just doesn't WANNA! smile  Thanks as always for listening, I need to catch up on errrbody else's tracks!

Direct and mellow.

I totally understand the dreaded lack of motivation/inspiration, but if it's any encouragement your output has been uniformly strong so far this year and this is no exception.  There's kind of a mellow funk vibe and that wah sound is super cool whatever it is.  Hope you can hang in there!

+1 on everything said here! Your tracks had been an inspiration through all WB editions, and they're still in my playlist to this day.

Gorgeous strings here in the middle of the song. Wish it was longer! Excellent wonky feeling. A perfect blend of mellowness and funky grooves smile

Sorry, I meant:

I've been feeling the same lately, the motivation is really starting to fade.. But I'm gonna try to keep at it! And I really don't want you to stop! I'm looking forward to your tracks every week.

I really like this one, super chill. Nice flow!

Those strings really tie the whole thing together.

Man this track is nice!
Really dig that funky, spacey, mellow feeling.
By the way if laguna didn't post the first picture maybe i had. Would be a perfect soundtrack to enjoy the freedom of the winter mountains...

I haven’t managed to do a full year yet. I’ve learned a lot from you and other folks here and really broadened my horizons.

I hear you on the motivation factor too. Catching up on some of your tracks now, always enjoy, and this is no exception. Love that lush laid back swing feel and good sounds throughout. I picture being in a kind of lazy haze walking around a dimly lit street or club.

Don’t stop, always look forward to your tracks, always some of the fullest and deepest sounding, weeklybeats needs you man!

Totally down with that gorgeous Rhodes voice. Really well done--I like the transition from the beginning to the main body, and the return with the string pad, the noisy echo...wonderful work.

Yo, the EP sound on this + progression is really chill and I legit like it.

Glad I listened to this on my decent studio speakers, instead of my apple in-ears. This sounds super impressive in stereo, very good work! Topnotch synth choices as well.

Just keep on keepin' on, before you know it it'll be week 52! We're all in this together heart

Soft and slightly funky, very cool!
