Aqua Seafoam Shame

By Tone Matrix on July 13, 2024 6:17 pm

After a busy couple of weeks which have included some out-of-the-ordinary-holiday-socializing for me, a quick lil noodle seemed about the only way to get back into gear.  Shortly after recording this, I cut my pinky pretty bad and for a few days thought I might have messed up my piano abilities.  I couldn't stretch my left hand out fully to hit an octave yikes  Thankfully I'm easing back into it after the swelling/pain went down and with a bit more stretching think I should be ok.  But gosh what a scary thought when you realize how important just a simple hand stretch can make a difference in how you play the piano.
Title is inspired by the zoomed_in_picture which was taken on a fishing trip with my friends.  I'm the dude who takes video and stares at the boat trail as you bounce and bob across the ocean.
H'ok rambling ginge out! Hope you are all well  *<|:)

yikes - how scary! glad you are ok and hope the hand heals up quickly, my Friend!
this track is such a nice comedown from a long week, so calming and... pretty!
thank you.
signing off from my nest of salt  heart

Beautiful. Meditative and maybe a little
melancholy. Great choice of sound as well, love the e piano. A captured moment in time. Great track, thank you.

I am also wake staring guy. Though it's been so long since I was on a boat I didn't actually own a cell phone with a camera back then.

This is beautiful.  Been a rough day and this was a very peaceful moment, thank you.

I hope you heal up fast and back to 100% asap!

Sounds like a fun trip! and glad to hear your hand is recovering. This is a beautiful e-piano piece. Brings back memories of glassy waters on a foggy day. heart

Love the "Rhodes" type epianos.

Beautiful. Yeah, it sucks to be in pain! I wasn't able to do as good as you this week. Could only put maybe 30mins in but I'll try to compose something decent this week!

Take care!

I'm reminded of a music box listening to this, lonely and pretty.

It is both scary and sucks when you hurt yourself doing something you enjoy and you feel you've endangered something you love, I'm glad to hear you're healing well.

This was really calm and relaxing.  And pretty.  It's a space I could definitely inhabit for a while.

Sorry to hear about the accident, but glad to hear your finger is doing better.  I had an accident several years ago where I nearly cut off the tip of my right middle finger when it got slammed in a door.  It still feels weird to this day, and I've often thought if it had happened to my left finger instead it would have certainly affected my ability to play guitar, cello, etc.  It's scary to realize how something like that could have such an impact on our music making ability.

This is such a beautiful track that is subtly played with so much great nuance. I am glad your hand is ok! This is quite a scary thing - never fun to hurt your finger, but definitely worse if it impends you from playing.

Fun fact: the original Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen was (in stark contrast to the Disney movie) a tragedy, in which the little mermaid can only escape her fate of dying and turning into sea foam by marrying a human. It doesn’t work out - she falls in love but ultimately loses her love to another suitor.

…Okay, maybe not a *fun* fact, but this composition and title lend themselves to the original tale in a surprisingly accurate way.

I can’t tell exactly which emotion you feed, but it resonates with me. Love this epiano, it suits you very well. And best get well soon wishes to your little pinky.

Very calming and contemplative sparkly thoughtfulness. Always like a TM noodle! I like this epiano sound, works well! Hope your cut heals ok, youch.
I'm in the staring and taking videos of the boat wake and shimmering water textures club myself. I don't like pull fish out of the water, but I'll go along to be on a boat and see the sights!
Thank you rambling ginge, haha, that's a funny nickname.

Love the title, perfect tune for this morning, everyone is still asleep, house is quiet, I can just listen with my headphones on uninterrupted.

Dang, sorry about your pinky.  Glad it's doing better.  Need to keep those digits in tack, my friend so we can enjoy more great tunes from you in the future.  Great choice of mellow EP for this hypnotic solo.  I can feel the same trance-like mood one might get from staring at the sea foam trail from the back of a boat.  Been there.  Done that!

love the title, photo, vibes

hate the cutting the pinky story - glad you are ok!

here'a kurt on a boat

woah!  Kurt in a different light than I ever recall seeing.  So cool thank you smile
and always loved that line as he sang it.

Glad you didn't lose your touch in many ways, it's a really good sound
Reminds me ever so slightly of cave story

A lovely, centering tune for the morning smile I always enjoy your playing and the moods you create. Who doesn't love staring at a boat trail? Please take care of those hands for us! lol

Man I love the sound here, particularly those moments where the half-step notes kind of rub up against each other a bit while resonating and it has this pleasant tension to it.
